Samsung Galaxy S is a really nice phone. But the problem with the WinMo7 phones are that they will be at least $60 + handset repayments. If you go outright its $800+ which is not cheap.

Not cheap? Import prices are around the $600-$700 price for a 1ghz phone.

Sounds cheap to me for a high end smartphone! There are no low end winpho7, if you want cheap you'll be looking at 600mhz'ish android phones, which isn't fast enough for a good android experience anyway, there's just no minimum requirement.

49 plan from tesltra is what im on right now so it wouldn't cost me anymore to get the mozart then what im paying now. Its I just want more space and I really dont want to have to FR just to put a Micro SD card in the thing.

Can anyone tell me about how the Galaxy S is as a Mp3 player? Any decent music apps for android?

Winamp for Android

You do not need any others. Be prepared to carry a USB to charge the phone at a computer. It will suck down battery in no time at all. Its why i carry a dedicated MP3 player.

Well I just got the Mozart from telstra this morning.

All I can say Its extremely snappy and extremely easy to use. Im going to be getting a 32gb micro SD card to install in it so bye bye warranty.

For anyone thats keen i'll keep this updated.

Bad idea if you want to keep that snappiness. The SD cards in the phone are not intended to be user serviceable for a reason.

Yeah I will be doing my research before upgrading it. Storage is managed by an 8GB SanDisk Micro SD Class 4 card. So it should be pretty easy to find something along those lines in the 16-32gb line.

I've seen a ton of guys on XDA do it to theirs as long as you buy an Sandisk MicroSD which is what I have in the phone it seems to be full steam ahead.

Well, I'm in the Windows Mobile 7 club now. Just ordered a HTC Trophy 7 for $700 from local online store.

I'll be keeping the old Nokia 6131 as a backup phone.

Won't be going 3G as yet until Vodafone fix their 3G in Darwin as it's rather crap (will be using the Wifi at work).

Yes I know it's only 8GB and in a hidden SD card but I don't have 8GB of music anyway.

People have already replaced the internal 8GB with a 32GB card. Google will show you how ;)

I saw that. Might wait for the 64GB ones!

I've got a 20GB of videos too but I'll leave them off the phone for now.

Have you considered re-encoding the 20GB of videos to make them smaller for your phone? I mean the phone isn't full HD, so downsizing the videos is definitely an option.

Most of them are actually small, Internet grade smallish videos. Just thousands of them collected over time.

The one I got was unlocked, I don't buy locked phones. My last 3 three phones were unlocked too.

It's pretty clear that the article is talking about phones sourced from telcos.

Of course, the situation is the same for a WP7 and Android phone from the manufacturer, versus from a telco.

It's just a shame that MS has allowed this to be the case, I wonder how Apple gets around it?
