After Market Camera flashes for Canon Camera's

Recommended Posts

I am a stingy basterd and i would like to get an after market flash for my EOS 7D Something that is equivalent or smiler to the canon speed lite 430EX

I need one before the end of the month for an event where there will be heaps of photos in low light events.

I have been looking at

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.37534

and

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32981

i have been reading mixed reviews, Does anyone own any of these? And or another brand they can recommend to me.

Thanks

ETF

Hey,

I own 2 of the yn-465 (without the LCD screen but ttl). Although I cannot compare them to my sisters 430EX II and SB800. They still perform very very well for the money. I would say the 468 would be just the same.

If you can step up a bit, look for the nissin flashes. Otherwise, can only suggest in looking either for a second hand 430EX for those who have upgraded.

I went something slightly more expensive with the Nissin Di866.

The main reason was that I had a 430EX and the Nissin is able to fire the 430s as slaves.

It's actually a noisy flash but it works really bloody well. It also has a sub flash so I can point the main flash at the ceiling for example and use the front as fill. That has proven to no be as effective as it sounds but I am still playing with it.

I have never seen the ones you have listed unfortunately.

I found a cheap retailer on ebay which includes express postage, I had a long hard thought and i think it might be worth spending the extra $180 for a genuine product with warranty.

The retailer is Digital Rev, I have herd of them before and for $295 you can land one in aus with a cleaning kit or bounce reflector. Its quite tempting to be honest.

And that puts it in par with the price of Nissin flashes i think.

The YN-465 is good for $65usd i mean nothing much can go wrong. I just need the flash to work well in fairly low light conditions one night...

I have no experiences with any of the equipment posted, but I know a few people that have waited months for stuff from DX (dealextreme) to arrive.

I've ordered from DX once before. My order arrived about 3 weeks after I ordered. I've got another DX order waiting to be shipped now. But none of stuff I ordered needs to be here by a certain date.

I'd spend the extra on the ebay store and express postage.
