Fallout New Vegas, great game!

Recommended Posts

Nearly 20 hours in and I've only had one CTD so far. ATM, I'm enjoying this more so compared to Fallout 3. I think Bethesda should take some notes from Obsidian in regards to making a polished game.

The choices you make (in terms of skills, perks, factions) really do reflect in the world. And monsters I thought I would take on easily in Fallout 3 are actually a lot tougher (suck as Nightkins and as well as Deathclaws). There are more quests (both noted and non-noted) so it makes the world more vibrant.

I've already done the Strip and doing the sub-quests before I do the final main quests. Interestingly, I'm considered with good karma given how things are.

ATM, these are my required mods for New Vegas.

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34902 - makes the font smaller and easier to read compared to the console text

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34971 - makes the text boxes very similar to Fallout Tactics. It does lag a bit but it is miles better than the standard text boxes.

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34970 - oddly enough, this makes the game smoother than normal

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34794 - Since I've got the Classic pack, I was a bit peeved that I couldn't mod it without having a big ! over the mesh. Not any more. :)

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34757 - I wasn't happy that the companions didn't allow you to unequip their armour/weapons without it being a non-object. This makes it easier to retrieve them and give it back to them (especially in the casinos).

That's all the mods so far and I'll add more mods once I finish the story. It should be interesting as there's already a lot of Fallout 3 mods compatible with New Vegas. Hopefully, we'll get more mods soon.

Got my copy a week a go, haven't installed it yet. By the time I get around to it there will probably be a patch or two out fixing any issues :-)

Psst, Morgoth - Fallout New Vegas uses steamworks, whether you buy it digital or not :P

Yea Nuke is right 3 patches already and TBH I haven't had an issue except one non game breaking issue that I still get, sometimes when I loot something off a shelf other items on the shelf raise like hover about 20cm off the shelf. Oh and sometimes the RAD meter on the pipboy just spins but thats the crappy gauge you can still read the numerical meter. Apart form that its all good..

I realise this is PC, but my 360 just downloaded a recent patch, and most of my issues are gone. I had freezing troubles, but they seem to all be gone :)

Apparently the patch list was over 200 fixes :P

The PC has some of the glitches fixed before the patch went out to Xbox and PS3 owners.

I'm not sure it's better than FO3. Both are just about equally great, though Vegas is held back for me by a few lockup problems on the 360 and the save corruption problem. Once those are fixed I'd rate it a 9.5 out of 10.

It's very fun. Though how I'm meant to heal 10000 damage through stimpacks for one of the achievements I have no sodding idea. Almost at the end and only at 2k healed. :\

Bah, Archimedes doesn't do jack as I found out. Only a mini-nuke works against Deathclaws. >:)

I have Archimedes armed, I just need to get the device to call it in

Faction Related Spoiler:I think you get it off the Brotherhood of Steel, so I'm in their bunker at the moment.

No.

The Anti-Material rifle makes mince out of them.

I broke some things, however, by using the cowboy repeater to slowly snipe my way through their nest. Came for the alpha's after I got my first sniper.

Sniper rifle is just way over powered, outside of VATS.

Nuke - No. You find it on a brat in Freeside, making shooty noises at another brat
