Nice, looking forward to some more piccy's. And just a quick question: Are gentle typhoon one of the best? I also heard the high end S-Flex range is as good and better then the typhoons for around the same? Anyway you probably wouldn't notice a temp difference.

Better put some pics up Nukey

GTs are quieter than the S-Flexs and most Scythe fans are hard to get atm so you take what you can.

Yeah I'll get some pics up, probably wont get around to until after Xmas though!

Should have a new DSLR by then aswell, so will get some nice piccys going.

Dasa has informed me that the GTs are louder than S-Flexs but the GTs move more air per db than any other fan :P

Will be great to see how you go nukey, mine was alot of fun to put together.

By the way, it's a bitch, but you NEED a G80 kit for both blocks, they don't ship with one normally

Yeah, PCCG's description is wrong. See the compatibility chart:

http://www.swiftnets.com/products/mcw80.asp

They should be ok with you adding the mounting plates to the order though.

*edit*

"Finally, to guarantee a safe and stable assembly, a GPU stiffening frame (partl #GTX400) is included that replaces the frame built into the stock cooling solution. This bracket is important to maintain the PCB flat in the immediate area surrounding the GPU. The bracket also serves as an anchor to install the MCW80 waterblock."

http://www.guru3d.com/news/swiftech-mcw80-...tx-480-and-470/

Sounds like you'll need one for it to work ok, and I can't find them for sale in Australia. Might wanna check with PCCG first before comitting to them.

Well it was my fuckup that saved me..

I had my mcw60 for yonks, and forgot the kit on it.

So I ordered a G80 for it, and ordered a MCW80 on it's own.

Turns out, my mcw80 comes without one, cannot mount to 480 without it, and my MCW60 was already using an ancient G80 kit :P I just took no notice previously.

So I had 2 G80 kits, luckily. He's pretty rooted without them

Just ordered 2 of the G80 backplates from Egay, should get them before Xmas hopefully.

Frunjy - Canon EOS 500D, I've been wanting to get into photography for a while but haven't been able to afford it, until now ^.^

Just Added 2x 92mm Scythe S-Flex 2000rpm fans to the order, they're for sitting over the GPUs to passively cool them, hopefully I can find a way to mount them without them looking dodgy.

I reckon you can cable-tie the fans to the end of the PCB through those round holes at all four corners of the board (most GPUs have them). You can see them in this shot:

http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/Gallery/170368...y-guide.aspx/20

I laughed when I saw you said 'passively cooled', passive generally means quiet :P But then I realised you just meant you weren't bothering with heatsinks and the like. Should look pretty awesome with the scythes though, especially if you get four 92mm fan grilles, spray paint them black, and attach them to both sides of the fans!

Brain fart! I'd just woken up lol, it should read "They're for sitting over the GTX480s as I can't passively cool them" -.-

/facepalm

this is going to be very very awesome man. sucks using egay! Hopefully I find the time to redo my watercooling and put it in my new lian li case ;) though, I might just get a 360 rad and sell my other one :) also, saving for a 580 atm!

cant wait to see how the cooling for the 480's works out dude, like the idea of using the 92mm fans.
