Sad Days

Recommended Posts

Another one bites the dust.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/brea...i-1225940967812

ACTOR Tom Bosley, best known for playing Mr Cunningham on the TV series Happy Days, died overnight at his home in Palm Springs, California.

He was 83.

A representative for Bosley’s family told TMZ that he “died of natural causes or specifically, from a brief battle with lung cancer”.

Family members also said Bosley had been battling a staph infection before his death.

Bosley starred on Happy Days from 1974 to 1984 as Howard Cunningham, father of series protagonist Richie Cunningham.

After Happy Days, he co-starred on Murder, She Wrote from 1984 to 1988, worked as a voice actor and starred in commercials.

I have wondered for a while where that phrase came from. Thanks, I looked it up. :)

Actually, that happened in '77. The show went for another 164 episodes after that. Not including spin-offs like Mork & Mindy.

Thanks..........I didn't check.

I think I'd stopped watching by then anyway.

It was all the same after the first season.

It's a fair enough mistake. The only reason I know is the phrase "jumped the shark" which is used so often when a show starts trying desperate and stupid things to get ratings up... which you'd assume meant they were about to get cancelled. I know I assumed that, until I looked it up.

It kind of takes the sting out of the "jumped the shark" phrase. Oh, that show jumped the shark. It's silly, and it's only going to go for another 7 years and have multiple spin-offs now. Doesn't really have the same kick when you know that.

I didn't know M&M was classed as a spin off.

Didn't bear much resemblance, by memory.............I didn't watch many of those either.

Well, the Mork character was in Happy Days first. I think around the same time as the shark jumping.

Ah, yes..........it does ring a bell.
