Setting needed for 3ghz on E6550 on gigabyte G31M-ES2L

Recommended Posts

im currently running my cpu (a dual core E6550) at 2.8ghz on the stock cooler and i set everything to auto and its runing a little hot (50-60c) and im wondering what settings i need to get it to 3ghz+ without killing it (or running it to hot) im not sure of volts or anything like that. also im running at the stock cooler....

and just a question, but what would i need if i wanted to attempt a suicide overclock of 4ghz?

(i will only attempt the 4ghz OC when the chip is going to DIE)

1700FSB will net you 3ghz will need a vcore bump though. What ram do you have? whats it running at?

if its that temperature under stress, fair enough. if idling like that, something wrong there.

i think 3.2 or 3.4ghz is the sweetspot for an e6550 (i define sweetspot as the overclock without the need for extra voltage). their e6320 siblings can leap from 1.8ghz to 3.2ghz on stock voltage.

Should be fine but as I said but it may not be stable. See how it goes.
