Fair dinkum! Who thinks up these harebrained schemes?

Hey! Here's an idea!

We'll train all these people up then pay them to go around and tell people to turn their lights and air conditioners off!

Oh! Hang on..........that's not working real well........here's 30 million dollars!

The Government scrapped the scheme earlier this year after a report exposed extensive mismanagement of the program.

In its initial design, the scheme allowed home owners to get a free energy efficiency audit and offered assistance to those wanting to make improvements to their home.

The Government has announced a $30 million assistance package for energy efficiency assessors who will be disadvantaged by the program's closure.

That's OK...

HOUSEHOLDS face even higher power prices from January 1 as electricity retailers recover the $360 million cost of the federal renewable energy scheme.

About 370,000 AGL electricity customers will be the first hit.

From next week a 3.8 per cent increase in charges will push up customers' annual bills by $54.

When a government mentions a solar or wind power scheme to reduce emissions, it's a sure sign the government is criminally incompetent and not fit to organize a piss up in a bar, much less run a country.

When Howard and Costello sold Telstra, they should have started building nuclear power stations with the money.

In Bob Brown's electorate. Next door to his place.

How many large-scale solar, wind or other "renewable" plants have commenced planning or production as a result of Federal Government initiative since 2008?

My guess would be - NONE.

Wait until we get the carbon tax!

We'll really be saving the planet then!

Here's an idea.

Slap a tax on CO2 (with no rebates, credits, or pension/welfare increases) and use all that money to go nuclear in a big way.

I'm talking about doing the whole cycle here including enrichment, reprocessing, and disposal. Pump money into the education system to produce a future stream of the required scientists, engineers, and others needed in a nuclear industry. Go nuclear for Navy's Collins class replacement subs.

It would be worth it just for the enterainment value of watching Labor and the Greens go completely batshit.

Oh, no!

We have a skills shortage!

Quick! Bring in another million unskilled people!

I was thinking about giving work visas to a bunch of Russian submariners...

...to be fuel rods.
