hey guys, this is my first post in this forum so, go easy on me.

recently bought a canon 1000D that came with an 18-55mm lens. Had a bit of fun with that over the holidays, went and bought a macro lens for some fun, here are the results (or atleast the ones I liked)

An old piggy bank I found in a cupboard. Propped a light up behind it and I liked the effect.

Close up of my snowball mic. Very nice mic I might say.

The volume dial on Cambridge Audio amp.

Audio Technica AD-700. Very nice set of cans particularly for the price, could do with a bit more bass though.

So yea, I took some more but they aren't too good. Any input?

Thanks guys,

raxo

I have a macro attachment for my lens on my 500D and its the DOF doesn't seem too bad, admittedly I haven't used it all that much though.

This is the mesh on my case, you can see all the dimples and irregularities in the paint work too!

I'm really enjoying shooting with my camera aswell Raxo, they're great fun. So much better taking a good shot on manual with a DSLR than taking a good shot with a point and shoot.

Not that I've taken any good shots yet :P

I might take some shots of things around the house. My camera is aching for some shots. :)

I've got the bug too, just don't know what to take photos of.

I'd love to do some urban decay shots, but I'm a bit far out of the city and areas that have abandoned buildings and such. Would also love to visit some of the ghost towns around victoria to get some sexy shots.

Might do that one weekend actually...would make a cool story.

I'm tempted to return to my primary school and photograph around it. There are a crap load of stuff that's changed so might as well.

Looks like I'm heading out into the bush with my partner and some friends tomorrow to get some nice nature snaps. If I get any decents I may make a thread for them.

It's a canon compact macro lens.

Is this from a Canon - EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro ?

I have the Canon MPE65 and Sigma Macro 105mm F2.8 EX DG Lenses. I love Macro

That's awesome! My only comment to your initial shots would be the white balance, but otherwise the shallow depth of field worked out really well especially for the shot of the Audio Technica.

Cool pics. Good composition on all of them. The light in pic 1 is a bit distracting though. It could also use a bit more contrast i think. But that's just my opinion and the most important thing is that you like it.

Keep snapping away. Macro photography is a lot of fun.

to give you an idea on price for macro lenses nukey, this is what ive got, and where i got it.

Canon EF 100m f2.8 macro USM

you could go down to something like this, it would be a far better multi purpose lens for portaiture etc, but a lot less focal length especially since your using a crop sensore SLR (like me)

Canon EF-S 60mm f2.8 macro USM

For even cheaper there is the compact macro that Raxo is talking about

Canon EF 50mm f2.5 Compact Macro

have a look through these stores, the prices seem pretty damn good:

Camera warehouse

Ted's Cameras

George's
