Morgoth 15 Posted May 17, 2012 Okay it's on water now, GPUZ sees the card as a full fledged 9800XT, wonder how much better it performs than the yumcha 9800xt I had. Oh, and I have only been waiting 10 years like everyone else to play Diablo3, but this takes priority!
Morgoth 15 Posted May 17, 2012 well the 9800xxl 256bit is 40% faster in 3dmark01se than the 9800xt 128bit! cpu+gpu@stock 10,000 vs 14,
p0is0n 0 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) very nice results so far mate. that's a massive improvement. now, let us know if your 9800xt can run diablo 3? :) Edited May 17, 2012 by p0is0n
Morgoth 15 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) cheers man! I would laugh if it could! Diablo2 should be no problem hah Okay it is also more in line with the old atomic 3dmark scores, I should shoot past 15k easily once I set the CPU above 1.8GHZ #13 14782 vodka_mv http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7748059 - AXP@2205 - 9600XT #14 14770 Atomics_most_wanted http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7740597 - AXP@2305MHz - Ti4200 #15 14496 derelict_frog http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7394929 - AXP@2166MHz - FX5950Ultra #16 14092 Dr Slue http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7508699 - 2500+@2297MHz - 9600XT #17 14010 Holdenkicks http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8217926 - XPM@2539MHz - Ti4800SE #18 13051 Don1802 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7359326 - 2600+@2088 - 9600XT #19 12920 Squeeks http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7473636 - AXP@1828MHz - 9600 #20 12408 scoobs http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6440978 - 2100+@2398MHz - Ti450 #21 12378 Jehu http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7418928 - 2100+@2346MHz - 9600XT #22 11632 MantaProx2 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7595437 - 2400+@2005MHz - 9600XT Edited May 17, 2012 by Morgoth

Morgoth 15 Posted May 17, 2012 (edited) Thanks! I honestly like tinkering with this stuff, and I try to add things to this frequently.. CPU+GPU @ stock, old 9800xt = 32,379 GPU=4365 CPU=6262 (I believe the RAM was set to 2-2-2-5 here) new 9800xxl = 39,781 GPU=5919 CPU=6060 (ram is 2.5-3-3-6 on some random divider) Edited May 17, 2012 by Morgoth
Morgoth 15 Posted May 17, 2012 Okay, so the old 9800XT was stock clocks of 340/240 (cpu/mem freq) Much below stock XT which is 412/365 this 9800 XXL is stock of 390/337, inbetween 9800 pro and XT speeds. Both of these are the R360 chip, same as the XT The shite 9800XT I had, clocked in ATI tool to 400/270 or something, 415 on water in 5C, still performed like shit :P got 36k in aquamark then I think, with CPU help. The 9800XXL has clocked to 475/425 Higher than many XT's clock =] Much higher than the POS I was using too ^^ Lets rebenchmark with nee GPU clocks!

nobody813 17 Posted May 17, 2012 Sweet jibbly jibblies!!!! Had a look downstairs and found these cards: - Unkown Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB AGP - Asus GeForce 6600GT 256MB PCIe (I think it may be 256bit too. Lots of sinks, and a led somewhere) - Unknown GeForce 6800GT 256MB PCIe - HP GeForce 2 MX 32MB AGP (card I got with my Pentium 4 system in 2007, after using a Pentium MMX through 2006. Has added heatsink for OCing :-P) - PowerColor Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB AGP (the first graphics card I bought, love it to bits) - Some random AGP Matrox card that I didn't know I had - XFX GeForce 7800GTX 256MB PCIe (was given to me last year, such an awesome looking card) - Unknown Riva TNT2 M64 MB PCI (used that in my Pentium MMX machine so I could play Age of Empires :-P) - Gigabyte GeForce FX 5200 AGP - Unknown GeForce 4 MX 440-8X 64MB PCI - Unknown GeForce 2 MX 400 64MB AGP (bought that for $30 to get some extra frames in BF1942) - Gigabyte Radeon 9000 Pro MB AGP - ATI All-In-Wonder Rage Pro PCI (has a TV tuner also, bought it for my Pentium MMX system, but was too long for the case) - 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500 AGP (bought this card at a lan a few years back, and planned to build a system with this dual GPU powerhouse :-P) They're most of my old cards, but I know there's more somewhere. I'll add photo's of these soon

Morgoth 15 Posted May 17, 2012 I had to chuck a fair bit of Vcore into my little desktop 2500+ to get it 2500MHz stable in 3D, but 2.1V is just nice! So these are the 2500MHZ 11.5x218 1:1 2-2-2-5 RAM Radeon 9800XXL@471/424 3DMark01SE 19824 This score beat every single Athlon+Radeon 9800XT score on the old benchmark thread! I will make 20K another night! Aquamark3 51506 GPU=7533 CPU=8143 This score also being above pretty much every score in it's class on the old Atomic comp 3DMark03 7426 with a 400 point increase for 670MHz CPU increase, this is fairly GPU limited now, however it's a nasty score! Pics for fun

nobody813 17 Posted May 19, 2012 (edited) Found some old CPU's downstairs including an AMD Athlon 1200C, and a Duron 1800. I know the Duron works, as I used it in my spare PC before I was given an Athlon XP 2600+ Unfortunately, I sold most of my Socket A gear a few years back, including 2 good Asus motherboards, that Athlon XP chip, and a Sempron (can't remember the model number) that I used to learn how to overclock on I found an old document with my results from it too. Got it up to around 2.4GHz, but I'm not sure if that was 100% stable. It was able to bench though. Below is a screenshot of the table in the document I think the graphics card may have been my 9600 Pro, as that was the best thing I had back then Edited May 19, 2012 by nobody813
Morgoth 15 Posted May 20, 2012 Shows how much overclocking back then was an absolute necessity almost
sora3 33 Posted May 20, 2012 Damn. That XP score was the highest I could get on air for everything. Any more and the heat will start killing them.
Morgoth 15 Posted May 20, 2012 Haha yeah once you hit 2.0v+ things heat up, That's why I benchmark out in the shed with water, CPU loads at 7c
Morgoth 15 Posted May 21, 2012 Getting the 9800 from 390 to 471? Fuck that! I'm now benching it at 490 and I think it has 500 in it! 20k in 01 is going to fall!
