Pic 1 : 3d printer?

Yeah, it's the Up! Mini. Probably the most difficult decision of everything I purchased. I would have liked something a lot bigger, and with dual extruders, but for my particular needs, there is nothing on the market that can reliably print large ABS objects without a lot of tinkering, at a price point under ~$20k. This will almost certainly change within a year or two. I decided to compromise and get a small printer for the small parts, and the larger parts I'll get done at Shapeways, while I wait for better technology.

My brother bought one of those 3D printers. They warp like crazy. I suggest installing a halogen lamp to keep the inside warm.

Hmm... Not good. I've read that I might have to mod the bed, as the stock heater is limited to about 50C. There's also a few other tricks involving acetone that apparently reduce warping. I've also heard that it pretty much doesn't work with PLA.

Yep, there's a few things you can do. I can ask my brother what his current process is if you like. The last few prints I saw were pretty clean.

My bread baking tin has arrived, and lo! A wild worklog has been spotted.

Hah! Time to cook, indeed.

Looking at the exact same tea glass on my desk.
Right now it's an iced tea glass, later it'll be a hot tea glass. The wonders of dual-walled glassware.

Avancer sells 'em cheap compared to other sellers too :) They keep emailing me with 10% off codes for a link share, but it's never when I mention it to anyone.

It's been over a wee bit of time, but we just completed one and a half months worth of work on it.

We bought a new backyard.
