Atomic 3DMark & Game Benchmark Rankings

Recommended Posts

New look is fantastic, and easy to use.

So.. I killed my 2600K,.. Originally thought...MOBO died......A Sad day for sure... Esp when I bought a replacement mobo (which took 6 weeks and didnt arrive, disputed, and re-ordered), and the broken CPU killed that, that evening!

Didn't have a lot of moneys to replace it on the spot with another i7, but had to go with what I could afford to get back up & running.

i5 4690 and Mobo to suit. (Although I locked it to 3.9Ghz instead of 3.5Ghz)

Man I miss the ol girl....Sandy, RIP - Many years service, handles everything with ease.... Loving the new CPU too, just not as much.

Will be buying a newer i7 4790K at some stage, when I do, is when I return here with more numbers - ie 4790K+290-OC (Maybe two of em by then)

Gotta keep on keepin on :)

Speaking of the forum upgrade, I've noticed it's added a few new handy features. May sound stupid but dot points are gonna be quite handy. Makes me think I should backup the old thread OP, and start from scratch (keeping all results though) with a tidied up look. Just though it'd be cool to give it a new look :-)

EDIT: Either that or start from scratch with the say the "2014 Atomic 3DMark & Game Benchmark Rankings" thread

Put my new MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G through its paces. I'm re-building my water cooling atm so cpu was only at 4.6.

But initial GPU over-clocking was amazing.

Out of the box the OC profile runs at 1288, with boost of 1314 and 7K memory. Without any extra voltage I got mine to do 1492 Boost & 8.1K memory. Adding only a mere 0.20v out of the 0.87.5 available I managed to get 1528 boost. ALL while running the stock cooling @ 100% and not having it go over 55C!!! AND being quieter than my 760s EVGA ACX cooler was at 50% speed.

Comparison
2500K @ 5.2 + SLI 760s at there peak OC under water. = 10.2k Firestrike
2500K @ 4.6 + GTX 970 at it's peak ( so far) on air. = 10.8K Firestrike

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2805877

I'm expecting to hit the 11k mark once I can get 5.2 cpu running again as it made about a 200 point difference.

This is the second most expensive single GPU I've bought 2nd only to the $750 I paid for my old 6800 Ultra back in the day. But in terms on price vs performance vs overclockers dream. I honestly think this card is absolutely golden. If any one is serious looking at upgrading to a 970. Get the MSI one. This twin frozr cooler is mental.

Also i took this pic while playing BF4.. ultra settings running the stock OC profile, got to between 45-55 c... fans didn't even start...

Thanks for posting some Intel GPU scores drawesome. Is damn handy for comparing to lower end discrete chips :-)

And that's epic Modz!!! Perhaps it's finally time for me to upgrade from your GTX 460's :-P

Wow Modz wow.... Yea Ive been reading of 1500mhz on the core online, overclockers dream like you said! MSI version has the 6+2 power design which is probably one of the highest ones.

Its 6+8 power. Yeah man I only had to touch any voltage right near its limit. This early I don't want to do damage so I won't be pushing it any higher just yet.

*made me wonder why they kept the 980/970 running at closer to the 1Ghz mark then say 1300-1400. Clearly the chips can do it with easy. All down the market control I guess. maybe we will see Ti version with high stock clocks in future.

So tested SLI, seems I have found my poor CPU's bottleneck limit. Poor thing clearly is at a point of dragging things down with this amount of GPU power it needs to feed. Sadly I must give up the 2nd card Friday. But at least I know now what i need to upgrade next if i want to think about SLI'ing 970s in the future.

On the upside, both cards have manged to break well over the 1.5Ghz mark. In fact this 2nd one managed to hit 1528 with needed any extra voltage. I then only took it to 1548 with a +.10 as it isn't my card the risk wasn't worth the gain.

Stock 1330/7k - 12787 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2820542
OC 1528/8.1k - 14155 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2820615

Here you can clearly see my CPU has dragged down the final score. While GPU score is sitting pretty at almost 20k.

Still, so very very nice. :)

My score has also dimished a lot since my 2600K died. Thought my GPU was underperforming a lot, came here for referencing old scores.

4690 (non-K) is nice and fast but yeah.. I'm losing 1-2k Points. from 10000+ > 8700

So yeah, thanks for the threads existence Atomic, and the people who manage it, and this thread.

Yeah true. Makes me wonder if my laptops CPU (Ivy Bridge Quad Core i7) would beat my 2500k at stock :-P

And I'll update the OP soon

Intel i5 4690 'so called locked..pfft' + Gigabyte's R9 290-OC

I'm missing the i7 physics scores I used to have...

(Last Summer's Post from this very thread) 2600K @ 4.6 + Gigabyte WF3 290-OC @ 1150/1275 Can go higher, but its summer in Australia, will update in winter :/
CPU/GPU OC Info - http://oi60.tinypic.com/jpeh3b.jpg

Heaven 2.5 - FPS 93.9 - Score 2366 - http://oi61.tinypic.com/23ogaq.jpg

Then today I cracked 10k in Firestrike with Gigabyte's 290-OC @ 1170mhz/1370mhz with +88coreV(I think I can lower this more too) and no Aux/Mem voltage added.

Firestrike score = 10185 - http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1663529

Specs of Current System

3DMark 11-P - 13936 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8785224

3DMark Vantage-P - 38255 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/5124446 <- Why is CPU Score is so Low I'm locked @ 4.0Ghz No declock.?

3DMark 06 - 34002 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm06/17663852

3Dmark 03 - 152875 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://oi59.tinypic.com/257p310.jpg

Heaven 2.5 - 88.1FPS / Score = 2219 - http://oi61.tinypic.com/2qvauyo.jpg

Valley X-HD - 61.5FPS / Score = 2574 - http://oi59.tinypic.com/2db75uw.jpg

3DMark Fire Strike-P - 10050 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.17Ghz (107Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2878276

^This is the only test with the CPU overclocked higher than the other tests.

Stalker Benchmark (Not Demanding,..I had lots of CPU usage @ 0-1% while GPU usage at 12%) - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - 303.5Points

ri6k54.jpg

Cheers @Modz for giving me the momentum to do this.

I know I can take the BCLK to 106.9, but I know full well that 107+ is a no go zone.

May revisit it at some point, probably right before I throw the i7 in there.

/Edit - Pushing the Limits of the 4690 & the R9 290 on Firestrike /w a score of 10170 @- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2903520 - (4690@4.167Ghz+R9-290 1175Mhz/1565Mhz)

Now I have my Avermedia LGP Recorder, I can get anything in realtime too with zero>little performance hit.(100points less in Firestrike) (Due to HDD controller intermittent activity with saving I guess)

eg: The above 'pushing the limits score' frequency setup, and recording with HDMI passthrough HW encoding done on the Avermedia LGP 1080p 60Mbps 30fps

So that' s quite a wall of stuff to go through...

Enjoy.

New Post for Reflection on News some may not have heard.

Is your PC ready for 4K gaming? Find out with Fire Strike Ultra, the world's first 4K Ultra HD benchmark

A 4K monitor is not required, but your graphics card must have at least 3GB of memory to run this monstrously demanding benchmark.

nice job with the scores! I need to run some but still finding some throttling with the new card. Will def give the 4k a run to see what its about, thx!

So I did some tweaking and updated my GPUs bios and gave Firestrike a complete re-run to see how things changed. I got slightly higher scores with only slightly higher clock speeds.

Firestrike: 10909
Firestrike X: 5702
Firestrike U: 3009

Apart from that I've been enjoying some Alien Isolation @ 4K using Nvidia DSR. Can run it on ultra settings and get around 60-70 average fps with only a few dips down to 50. I must admit even know i know it's not true 4K, on my 27" benq man does it look visually stunning. The only problem I've had with DSR is in games like BF4 the mouse goes all gammy and weird due to the scaling. It will randomly change from my normal settings to super high sens suddenly then switch back. Which makes for some very unpredictable movement.

Heres some 4K gameplay. note because this was a native 4k sized file youtube was overly nasty on the compression.

RE: I bet now Drawesome you will be looking at getting a K series for your next upgrade. :p

^Nice scores all round there,.. I'm either grabbing an i7 ($400+) or another GB 290 ($300+) for Xmas,...depending on the November games and advancements/requirements/issues...

Eventually both.
