philo-sofa 0 Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) Link fixed (cheers for pointing that out DASA) and yeah, is fun playing with Trifire :D Also did a 3DM11 run (barely nosing above your two GTX 480s tho DASA): 3DM11 - Triple GPU (ATI) P12284 Philo-Sofa - i7 860 @ 4.2GHz HT (a) - CrossfireX (Trifire) HD 6990 @ 950/1450 MHz (a) HD 6950 (shader unlocked) @840/1325 MHz (a) - Screenshot Stalker doesn't seem to like the Red team at all: Stalker - Triple GPU (ATI) 345.3 Philo-Sofa - i7 860 @ 4.2GHz HT (a) - CrossfireX (Trifire) HD 6990 @ 950/1450 MHz (a) HD 6950 (shader unlocked) @840/1325 MHz (a) - Screenshot Edited May 17, 2011 by philo-sofa
NukeJockey 4 Posted May 17, 2011 Stalker should be far more optimised for ATI cards. Try it with the 6950 disabled.
Dasa 288 Posted May 17, 2011 2133 Dasa - i7 2600K@4.48GHz(w) - SLI GTX480@925/2113(w) looks like an extra 500mhz adds a whopping 31 points :)
philo-sofa 0 Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) Nice DASA :) I was going to try getting a whole suite of testing in with Tri-Fire, but the drivers just had an epileptic fit, half-blinding them to the 6950 and reducing performance to a crawl. As I can't be bothered doing that many driver re-installs I'll just go to the single 6990 for reviewing (and of course, benching) purposes for now. Can't say I'm been very impressed with ATI's multi-GPU driver stability over the last few months. @ nuke - iirc those numbers are ballpark what I'd expect from a previous 2x6950 run on Stalker. Possibly X-ray just doesn't like ATI (I seem to remember something about that and notice no other reds have bothered to put up any results?) but either way it'll be very interesting to see how the solo 6990 fares. EDIT: It seems it doesn't favour ATI silicon all that much, however the drivers (11.5) also don't seem to have been particularly well optimised for Tri-Fire. I only lost ~14% performance moving to dual-GPU. Stalker - Dual GPU (ATI) 296.3 Philo-Sofa - i7 860 @ 4.2GHz HT (a) - CrossfireX HD 6990 @ 960/1475 MHz (a) - Screenshot EDIT 2: This seems about consistent versus my unlocked 6950's results, given their respective clocks. 3DM11 - Dual GPU (ATI) P10117 Philo-Sofa - i7 860 @ 4.2GHz HT (a) - HD 6990 @960/1450 MHz (a) - Screenshot EDIT 3: And finally Heaven. Can't get Smartdoctor working without utter performance fail, really frustrating as even the newest build of Afterburner can't handle the ASUS VRM :/ Either way, interesting results compared to Tri-Fire which gave ~90% scaling over this Crossfire result, even with Tri-Fire's effective drop to x4, x4, x8 bandwidth. Unigene Heaven 2.5 - Dual GPU (ATI) 1727 Philo-Sofa - i7 860 @ 4.2GHz HT (a) - HD 6990 @960/1450 MHz (a) Screenshot Edited May 20, 2011 by philo-sofa

3dmark master 0 Posted May 31, 2011 All done, sorry for the late one! Okay I've edit it a bit to include philo's results in the top multi gpu sections, no point being in a section on his own AND his result is challengable by dual gpu setups, so I thought it would fit in fine. Any probs and I can switch into it's own no worries. Also Philo, stalker has hated the red team for quite a while now, I may look at introducing another benchmark that would make for some more even footing. Dasa, I hate you, that is all. NukeJockey 4 Posted May 31, 2011 Its odd. When I first tried COP on a single GTX480 the FPS was abysmall (like 20-40fps average on highest) vs my girlfriends dual 5770s (around 70-80fps on highest) But dual card performance felt a 400% increase. Might have just taken Nvidia a while to get decent drivers going.
Dasa 288 Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) well to be fair with stalker you did say ATI use HDAO, Nvidia use HBAO each may be better optimised for ati\nvidia but im fairly sure hdao is a more advanced rendering method that is harder on hardware to try squeeze out a little more detail with gtx480 sli at 875mhz 275.27 beta 2600k@4.3ghz SSAO Mode - SSAO Quality disabled 498 default - high 377 hbao - high 440 hdao - high 301 hdao - ultra cs 425 well its a bit of a mixed bag it would be interesting to see how modern ati cards with the latest drivers handle the other methods to Edited May 31, 2011 by Dasa
Morgoth 15 Posted May 31, 2011 Well we need an ATI user to test with HBAO too ^ interesting
philo-sofa 0 Posted June 1, 2011 Interesting stuff. I'm in Wellington for work right now but if no one else steps up in the meantime I'd be happy to chuck the 6990 back in when I get home and re-test.
