i cant play it anymore :( ever since the patch hit, it wont last 3mins without a CTD or full whitescreen crash (requiring envoking the task manager to kill the process). tried catalyst 11.11a/b hotfix drivers and now 11.12, nothing works, deleting the game and redownloading isnt fixing it either.... /sigh. broken game be BROKEN!!!

extremely tempted to get a hold of the v1.exe just so i can play it again :(

There is another patch?

@nobodyishere, try picking up the 4GB launcher. I've had the same problems with an unmodded Skyrim. After starting to use the 4GB launcher, things are a lot more better. However, I still have to deal with invisible objects from time to time.

new Patch supposedly fixes/adds the 4gb large address aware issues.

Are you talking about the patch that came out in the last 12 hours?

nah there was a stealth patch before the one today, i noticed steam saying skyrim was downloading @ 300kb/s the other week for about 30sec's when i went to launch anno2070 but when i set it to downloads view in steam, said nothing was downloading, which was odd, and after it completed, i couldnt play the game at all, even tried using a few 4gb skyrim launchers (v1.0/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4 etc), different drivers etc, nothing i could do to make it work and i think i tried everything.

It works again as of 5mins ago when i loaded it up, reported version now is 1.3.10, about to try and resume the mages questline, currently on the 2nd quest, will see how i go.. *fingers crossed*

i reckon im gonna leave skyrim for a month or so,

play some starwars the old republic. then come back and mod the ever loving shit out of it

and then play it again from the beggining with enough mods to drown a "Milk drinker".

(particularly fond of the one that lets you kill the annoying kids!)

Yep I was going to take a break from BF3 and get some Skyrim but I think ill wait till a nice patch comes out.

I do have Dragon Age Origins installed and havent played it yet so this is a perfect time to get into it as I am in the mood for an RPG.

dragon age is terrible compared to skyrim though, I can't believe I wasted money on buying it -_- Edited by nesquick

At this rate I'm going to need a new years resolution to finish the main plot.

The main plot line is actually reasonably short. I kinda ignored the whole Greybeards summons and polished off Thieves Guild, Mages College, Dark Brotherhood and a heap of side quests first. Finally got around to it and reckon I had it knocked over in a night, from memory.

playing as a mage I had a tough time finishing it the first time even on adept (used like 50 health potions just going though Skuldafn), playing it again last night as a one hand and heavy armor specialist I just tore through everything even the two ancient dragons guarding the entrance to sovereignguard ( on mine there were two ancient dragons I'd assume its different for others) I just ran up to alduin and did two dual wielding power attacks and dropped him like a sack of shit, the only challenge I get is from those really hard dragons elder dragon? I get the elder and ancient ones mixed up one of them has like 3500hp.

speaking of dragons I still am yet to see a green dragon... most of the encounters now are like a do I have to kill it kind of thing like a mosquito I just swat away.

My first playthrough was a sneaky archer wood-elf and I did Skuldafn at about Level 38. Poured everything into Sneak and Archery so with a decent bow + sneak bonus I could do some serious damage. I think the ancient dragons took about 10-12 arrows each, and Alduin wasn't much more.

Haven't really been able to get into my second playthrough because it all just feels so same-same. I liked that about Neverwinter Nights II - there were completely different quest chains depending whether you were a goodie or a baddie. Seems like the citizens of Skyrim don't give two hoots whether you're a kleptomaniac serial killer or a monk wearing white Y-fronts =(

Really? Didnt know that it affected the game much. I might have to put in on my list to play through again as Im pretty sure when I played it last I was a pretty decent kind of bloke. Playing through as a bit of a nutter might be cool. I enjoyed NWN2. I thought it was ok. Doesnt look bad either.

Yep. If you're a goodie then you get quests from the Captain IIRC, whereas if you're a baddie then you get quests from the thieves. Long time since I played it but that's how I recall it. Was a good game that - pity that they're changing the format to MMO (apparently) for NW3.

What annoys me is ,as you progress up the ladder and finish more chains you do not get that recognition. Ok you get called a companion but you do not hear the word Leader. Or if you finish the Legion chain and get the Title Legate ,all cities ignore that title and just call you citizen. This game removes the feel to be part of the Skyrim world and alienates you. I am a dragonborn and i get no perks but a damn shout ,when i use it i get punished in cities. Must agree this game is too repetitive in many ways ,and this is where game shows it flaws.

Yeah that is disappointing and quite immersion breaking. I can understand why they've done it as it would have meant a LOT more voice scripting to cover all the different titles, but it does feel pretty unfinished.

Yeah that is why I really liked getting to kyanreth the first time BAM dragon, you kill it with the town guards and everyone NOTiCES. They stand around shocked that you just killed a dragon in front of them.

It was a very pleasant feeling of immersion which is sadly lacking elsewhere. I am arch mage, you fuckers, respect me!

It remember the feeling of disconnection from the world was really bad in Morrowind, where you had to become the leader of all the great houses and assume a number of other powerful positions as part of the main quest and yet everyone still treats you like a average smuck. Even after you have killed a god.

I noticed some changes in dialogue, for example I killed Eorland grey mane because me and the town guards got into a biff, while I was only using it to harvest some block points he had to go all psychopath and use his spells on me... so yea I killed the dumbass and now that other blacksmith in whiterun says something like eorland used to be the best blacksmith.

there seems to be a few npcs that if killed in public or their bodies are found in public, will trigger that kind of change in dialogue, but if you hide their bodies so they arnt found, the dialogue never updates, which kinda makes sense in the way about how would they know he/her is dead or just missing for a while.

Haha that reminds me of an incident I had with a later un-named dragon. Just finished killing it and the town guard nearest me sheaths his sword, then comes out with that line about "My cousin's off killing dragons, and here I am stuck guarding the city gates". Quality immersion there lol
