[ALL] Dirt3. Anyone playing yet?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I personally can't use a wheel for rally games though, if I wanted to I'd have to practice for a long time, gamepad just feels more 'natural' for me. Maybe reb1rth is just a seasoned racing sim/arcade player? :P

Yep he is.

Is it too late to forfeit tonight? So I can retain my dignity.

Haha, I wouldn't be too afraid... I'm not that good. I just play a lot of sim racing games.

Rally is my fav motorsport, and playing Richard Burns Rally has hardened me and helped my concentration a lot over the past few years. :p ... but I definitely still make mistakes... missing pacenotes, people talking to me on Steam, distracting me (HI NUKE) and so on. Haha.

Flouncy and some of the other more hardened racers around here will probably beat me easy.

It's true. I am hardened.

In game for a blast now, msg me if you wanna race.

Haven't come across any bugs so far, so they're not as widespread as people are making out. Just people getting unlucky I guess.

People with wheels are so much faster than gamepads, I've been getting my ass kicked by reb1rth, if I race well I'm still losing by 2~ seconds.

Yea this is true, I don't understand it though because I struggle with the steering wheel while tweaking the controls. I still have yet to work out how in the world I am going to do Gymkhana though especially when I need to do a donut and spin :(.

Thanks for the games guys, good fun, especially Outbreak. LOL at me sitting sideways next to the water and four of you come flying towards me, so I hit reverse and you all went for a swim.

Sweet game, I crashed though and my gamepad buttons reset, so last few races were with keyboard - terrible. Again soon!

The rallycross was a nightmare, haha... but the rest was good fun.

Definitely have to do it again. :)

I totally suck at Gymkhana, so much that I can't be bothered practising to get better, although it does look fun.

Got this on PC the day it came out. I'm surprised at how much the cars grip. The MarkII Escort is A LOT grippier than it was in dirt 2. According to the hype, there was a lot more collaboration with rally drivers (devs even went to a rally school apparently) but I agree the physics aren't bang on realistic. I don't think they are meant to be though. It's a compromise between making it realistic enough to satisfy hardcore rally fans with no concept of women and simple enough for 12 year olds playing after school not to get frustrated and give up.

I'm really happy with it overall - into it so much that I'm getting a cheap wheel. But I would have liked another location or two for rally than the four they have and I was looking forward to driving the Lancia Stratos, 037 and Groub B Delta Intergrale. Codies will apparently be bringing out some DLC's which remedy this... I hate the idea of DLC you have to pay for, but I guess I'll pay for them. What happened to the good old fashioned expansion pack?

I hate RallyX though. Especially in multiplayer. Everyone just deliberately ploughs into you and knocks you off the road. You have to be lucky to get past the big pile up at the start. Some longer rally stages (at least 5 minutes) would have been good too...

Sorry for the bump, but I've been getting back into this lately, wondering if anyone would be keen for a game some time this week? Finally got myself an xbox controller receiver... So no more horrid keyboard!

What's the best multiplayer game type with Dirt3?

I've got it(along with Grid) so wouldn't say no to an online game if i'm around...

I had a lot of fun with Outbreak last time I played. I would say Rallycross is up there in my favourites as well, at least then you're racing against physical opponents rather than against the clock etc.

Haha... Ez... I tried this game with a wheel, granted my wheel is probably 6 years old, I sucked horribly. Controller FTW. <.<

Ok cool - I can't play tonight, but any other night this week should be schmick. If you haven't got my on steam add meeee - 'brockp28'

Caelum, definitely standard rally (staggered starts)... trailblazer is second best.

But that's just my personal preference. I'm more into sim games, so I like the more serious, focused modes.

Though there's 'fun' stupid game modes like Outbreak, etc... which is essentially tag in cars.

It's good to break up the more serious rally types by screwing around on games of Outbreak.

clung3, wheel just takes practice. :) I've had my G25 since 2007 or something so I've had plenty of time to get used to it.

DiRT series feels a bit different to what I'm used to, thanks to its somewhat arcade nature, but with the wheel set to 540 degrees (like an actual rally car) it's pretty good. :)
