Cool and Quiet is a bitch to disable?

Don't you *not* install it off the MB disk when you install the chipset and audio drivers, by using a custom manual install instead of the Automatic, or "Install All" option?

Nope. CnQ is done through the BIOS. The initial BIOS I had didn't disable it fully. It was only until the current beta BIOS did it fully work. It is not controlled via software despite what people say.

was a bit thrown back by those benchies...

over 26s to do pi 1M?

even the phenom seems slow?

for comparison:

2500k @ stock speed was 11.4s.

my overclocked q6600 (4.5 yrs old) could do it in ~13s.

overclocked 2500k is just under 7s.

more than 50% performance difference here.

is this an area where intel CPUs usually do better?

edit: also if your comparing stock speed to stock speed, not much point chucking a 3.6ghz score in there to throw things off?

might as well leave it all the same

Well, I'm still getting things in order. I'm at the overclocking stage now so yeah. The FX can clock very high, even higher than the Phenom and the performance increases as well.

The MaxxPI run is my mistake as I should have put up the stock run I did earlier. Plus, it didn't help that I used the single threaded one instead of the multi-threaded one that the Phenom used... ><

One thing I'd like to do is a comparison between a Phenom II X3, and your chip with the secondary cores disabled

I could simulate an X3 with my processor
