I am having a problem with my new PXE network boot option.

When I boot from CD or PXE network (into PE) I get the following error

Windows failed to boot.

File : \windows\system32\drivers\viaide.sys

Status : 0xc0000017

Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

When I use the CD to boot another type of PC, I look in the x:\windows\system32\drivers and can see that the file is there.

(This is copied in to x: (ram drive) from the CD. I can not look directly on the CD as in is stored in a .wim image with in the image.

Would anyone have any ideas as to how to solve this issue?

Can you provide some details about how your pxe is setup?

Sorry, i think i solved it.

I grabed the file from another PC of the same model and found that it had a much older version.

I then put that in the ISO and recreated the image, seems to be working.

Would anyone know how to modify the Boot image that comes from the PXE server?

I am using Windows Deployment Services on windows 2003 SP2

I am unsure of what other info you might need so let me know if further info is required.

PXE servers are very new to me.
