i paid ~$680 for mine delivered back when they were fairly new out over a year ago

picture quality is great but text can be a bit small

not having a led backlight means it runs a little warm and uses a bit more power but then the backlight is nice and even which is something many led panels struggle with

first kinda died with half the screen going red

replacement was another first rev monitor and it to is now flaky with green lines down one side but tapping the monitors back can make them go away

good thing is when i get around to calling dell they will send a replacement out right away then i just have to drive to town to send mine back

i will be checking to make sure the refurb model they send me doesnt have a scuffed panel this time but atleast its only visible with direct light on the screen

That really does not fill me with confidence Dasa, mind you I had a very similar story with the Samsung t240 im currently using. Had a vertical line of dead pixels about a quarter of the way in from the right hand side from top to bottom. First refurb they sent me the entire fascia was cracked, mind you they had another one out three days later and im still using it.

yer bad luck happens and the newer models are better than the first rev

at least they have 3 year warranty and great support to make up for the problems with early adoption

Would be awesome if PCCG's shipping for something that size wasn't so expensive.

yer i preferd there old post service before they changed companies it was cheaper ($35 vs $100-150) and the courier brought it to my door instead of leaving it damage at the local po (both fractal cases have been cracked)

i have had large heavy items delivered from wa and qld for $55

$41 estimate to my postcode (7321) this doesn't seem terrible for something that weighs nearly 14 kilos

yep thats not bad till you add $50 to insure it against them smashing\loosing it in transit

this is what it gives me for delivery to north central vic which is reasonable for a base cost its just a shame it adds up

Standard Shipping (averages 2-5 days) $39

How does one go about this, the quoted price on that Monitor on the Dell websit is $399 and as for the U2711 thats $899. I've heard people use coupons but where do you get them.

Ye got my U2412M for $279.00 as well. Basically you have to check the Dell website on a regular basis for the specials they run.

Mine was a 3 day sale and I happened to check the site on day 3. :P

Took about 5 or 6 days for delivery to Deloraine Tas.

are you a member of any of the autoclubs in australia? instant 15% off right there, also they do discounts for universities, usually about 5-15% depending on the product line.

also atm dell has the u3011 for like $1359 so its cheaper to buy it there than pccg.

yea, some sales people are alright, some I cannot understand wtf they are saying, personally I'd rather wait 20mins and speak to an aussie than wait 5mins and speak to an asian/indian.

same with when I call telstra I just say put me onto to someone who can speak english I don't care about waiting just the understanding.

Haha, working in phone support, I can guarantee you aren't alone, I get dozens of people every week thanking god that they get to speak to an aussie :P

Check the Ts&Cs on that insurance policy.

Most CC insurances I have looked at either exclude courier/freight damage & loss, or only activate after you have personally taken posession of the item.

IMO about their only useful purpose given those exclusions is to cover you until you have added it to your home/contents insurance.

about the dell screens? yea a few bad things but the warranty is awesome and most people are overjoyed with the ultrasharp screens.

Something to consider is the couriers used by PCCG and Dell. AAE imho are far more professional than Star Trak. I have 2 bad experiences on separate occasions with the latter. Both instances cost me money in petrol in me recovering my property (monitors) after their fups. Won't go into the details. My U2412m is here and ready for your viewing if you want a real demo. I'm very happy. $280 with a coupon I grabbed from somewhere. It was a small business code but my business registration had been delayed :)

That's odd, I've never had an issue understanding tele support or sales at Dell/Telstra whether they're Asian/Indian/Australian/from the moon. They train them pretty well. I was able to buy my U2711 from Dell for 649 bucks and just negotiated with the sales guy (who was both nice and Indian). Go figure.
