Xonar D2x+Logitech Z5500, digital or analogue connection?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to grab one of these cards soonishly as an upgrade to the onboard I've endured for the last few years.

My useage, when time's free, is probably about 70/30 gaming/music.

Is the best form of connection digital (coax and making use of the Dolby Live! encoding) or analogue i.e 6 channel direct? If the latter is chosen, I take it the ASUS software gives options of how the signal is processed?

From what I gather, analogue is better as the souncard's DAC is of a better quality than the none too shabby Logitech?

Does anyone have the same or similar setup or have any suggestions?

Cheers.

Your reasoning is sound, however i'd still recommend when your new sound card arrives test out both analogue and digital options then use which ever sounds best to you.
