Guild Wars 2

Recommended Posts

Thanks xnatex. Not long at all :)

I managed to only play 1 hour in the last stress test where I noticed a few changes. There is now a Frame Rate Counter in the Options Menu. With the graphics slider set to Max Quality @ 1080p on i5-2500k, 8GB RAM & 1GB HD5850 I was getting a little over 80FPS.

There is now a slider to move the camera so your character is not centre of screen. I noticed a new escort event I've not experienced in the Queensdale Zone, a lvl 1-15 human starting area.

There Is still no 1st person camera which I really want in the game. I have no idea why ANET can not or will not include it in thier game, whyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :P

I didn't really notice any other changes but while I was playing. It was running smooth and looked great. Much better ingame than watching youtube vids thats for sure.

Anyway... I just wanted to thank the Developers of Guild Wars 2 for making a great "Quality" game. I look forward to enjoying and experiencing all the content these guys have built so pasionately.

I came across this video today, its been out for awhile but I've never seen it before and made me go wow, these guys and girls are awesome.

When I've been working on Guild Wars, I often think I want to make the greatest game possible, the most awesome game that I want to play and then I start thinking about the millions of people who are going to share this this game with me and my colleges at Arena Net. Honestly it was kinda terrifying but feeling all the love from everybody it really shows that the community of GWs is what I love the most about our game. Thank you, thank you everybody and I'll see you in the game."

Hey there...

I have played in the last beta event and have found THE GAME in beta format enthralling.....

I am and old school gamer and the layout and multi-faceted changeup rules for the RPG are great the info Harro2 you have provided is spot on and very informative and helpful. Thankyou buddy :) There is so much to learn and its SERIOUSLY going to be great to play GW2, they only scary thing will be a few server issues these guys are going to face. I predict that many will be flooding in and I really hope they can be ready for the influx, plus be catering for oceanias concerns which has been previously posted. All in all I`m so with Harro2 here this is a seriously breathtaking and interactive game, its the new kid on the block and will grow to be the best.....I`m hanging to smash out hours on this amazing game. So thx again Harro2 just wanted to come say yes !!! WE WILL BE PLAYING HARD !!!!

Cheers bro, glad you liked the posts with the suporting videos.

I think GW2 will have a very smooth launch, they have very experienced network devs at Arena Net and the overflow servers will help alot. It's simmilar to districts in GW1. Also the 3 day head start should spread a large chunk of the players out before the official release date for the 28th. Thats when another large influx of players in the starter zones can be expected. Another good design decision is the 5 playable races all with there own staring areas, this will also help spread out the player populations.

I think the biggest gripe from the players will be if there is a high demand and a queue with a long wait to get into WvW. The number of players are capped for each zone. There can not be overflow servers in WvW due to the 2 week persistant nature of the zones. There is 4 huge zones for WvW, 3 home battle zone thats 1 for each server and a central battle ground. Im not sure on the numbers**, but I think its about 150- 200 per server per zone, so thats about 500-600 players per map. A total of 2000-2400 players from 3 home server pools.

** Don't quote me on this, numbers are speculation and not final.

In the BETAs I was rushing alot cause I just wanted to experience as much as possible in the limited time we had. Once we can all play for real I will be taking it all in at a slower pace, stopping to smell the roses so to speek. My favourite feature of the game is the World it self. I just love the freedom the game gives you to explore and discover things with very little hand holding.

In PvE as you progress, by the time your level 80, the entire worlds content becomes available to the player due to down scaling, this greatly increases what you can do at endgame compared to previous MMOs. For PvP you can get strait into it from level 2. You can level entirely in WvW if you so desired. You will be scalled to level 80 but you will still need to progress your weapon skills, utilies skills, gear and get exp for your real level. Or you could join structured PvP and get max gear for a balanced 5v5 battle field experience.

What is the best feature of Guild Wars 2?

EDIT:click "watch on youtube" link, click "large player" and it manages to play. Otherwise it says "an error occurred".

Plus is FUN

Hey Matay0, rememeber the Laughing tree :D, fun times watching people fall of to thier deaths, such a crack up laughing, it was pretty hard though. It's actually called Morgans Spiral. Becasue you and Leeroy couldn't complete it I thought I would show you what I got to see after finally making it across myself. I died so many times trying to complete this section and finally gave up, fortunately as shown on this video thier isn't much here. I have a feeling this place will be added to after lauch so we should cheak it out again.

Another interesting discovery and an example of the varied activities to be found in GW2

I dont wanna see your spoiler of the tree "Morgans Spiral" I want to try to do it mahself and have that sense of satisfaction of the landscape view up there. Watching people fall to their death is just bonus and extremely funny lulz

I read on the GW2 site that when you start your character depending on your race you choose certain 'characteristics' for instance with the humans you choose wether you were of a noble class or a poor street dweller (sorry if that isn't completly right but it's the general jist) and depending on this choice as you level you gain certain abilities depending on which characteristic you chose. I wanna know if, as people start to figure out the game, every one is just going to start rolling the same thing as its the best way to go. Im worried that it will be like WoW where to get into the good raiding guilds they expect you to have x talent tree, y gear and execute your skills in z sequence...

I too am worried this may happen . Waiting for 2 months before i sign up for GW2. Fed up with Professional players ruining games for everyone with DPS ,Gear and other addons.

Yeah but that stuff only happens in high end game guilds, theres a lot of game to enjoy before that point

Yeah, that's the content I'm looking forward to playing but when the holidays come and I acctually have time to do raids in the high end of it I don't want to have to conform to the 'best build' just to get noticed. We'll just have to wait and see anyway.

Skills aren't tied to your story choices in any way and racial skills are made deliberately inferior to class skills.

Hi, I moved house this week and finally got my internet connection back up, sorry for not replying to your questions sooner. My line is faulty with crackling voice on the phone and unreliable and unstable ADSL1. Its so bad speedtest.net web page wont even load. I tried patching GW2 client and maxed at 20KB/sec, guess average about 4KB/sec and often 0KB/sec and disconnecting. I'm not happy to say the least, will be monday/tuesday before any one even comes out to look at the faulty line. Which means no GW2 for me for some time. Surfing youtube is out of the question, so no more vids either :(

When you create your character the choises you make effect your personal story quest/missions. So what effects your personal story? Race, Profession and Bio choices. Choices made during some of the quests effect your quest line as well. How does this effect you ingame? When you go to your home personal instance your choises might be reflected in the area. It is expected that when ANET include player housing your house will be located in your home personal instance aswell.

Only your profession effects your skill selection, Race will only effect your racial elite skill selection which are touted as inferior to proffession elite skills but they can be still be fun.

There is no traditional raiding in GW2. What you do have is 5man dungeons. First is story mode then you can repeat them in explorable mode (hard mode). In exploreable mode there are paths/choises you can make which alter the route and there is also random encounters so the experience might not always be the same. There is also Dynamic events in the world that require grouping. You will also have to coordinate your efforts in WvW which could be regarded as more sandbox Raid content.

hope that helps. I encourage you to do your own research.

Ahhhh nooo mate thats terrible !

When the Telstra guy comes ask Him if he can check the streets connection if it has a box.....and also concurrently the connection of your main street interlink if he can clean it up or replace any damaged equipment related to your home it will greatly help you bruv. Getting it as clean as possible will rely on that, not just checking your home and the exchange layer. So be really nice and say to him if he goes the extra miles for you there is a carton in it for him.....trust me they wont go out of their way do it on those levels "usually". Ive been thru that drama meh !

I guess you can expect that with it though, what 'world' cough server are you playing on mate?

BTW anyone who's having a bad day and cant put 2n2 together, the 3 day head start is live.

Currently downloading after finding out buying the game wont get me the disc for 3 more days.. why pay the extra money and go to a store for gw if im not getting the disc?

..anyway, its a big download so i would recommend to people like me with a small download cap, just wait it out as the game with be lag central currently.

Would you like to post some screens mate?

Switching is free for the first 7 days, it'll cost after that.

There were a few hiccups with connection problems but when it worked... Pretty enjoyable game!

Well,

All i can say is...... This is the new standard in MMO's. Few minor issues with the black lion trading company (Auction house), and logging in had one or two errors but could get in after 1-2 attempts. But apart from that, the prelaunch for players who didn’t preordered was incredible. This game is something else, I originally pre-ordered as a couple mates were getting it and was only $60usd. But so pleased i did.

Levelling has so many options, from farming resources (anyone can farm all resources no need to have a profession for that), crafting, character quest, exploring vistas (Hard to get to environmental lookouts), constant amount of world events, skill challenges, assisting the hearts (Not sure what their proper name is), killing mobs. The combat system is revolutionary, as depending what weapon you’re using determines what your main skills are.

Soo impressed.

I'm getting really excited now, I'm a little disapointed that Sea of Sorrows is full though. I get it tommorrow and was wondering which server most you Atomicans are at?

I'm on Sea of Sorrows.

Just keep an eye on it and transfer to it if it goes back down to High. This is what I did.

I'm really enjoying the game. Warhammer Online got me hooked and since that haven't played an MMO that has really hooked me, but this has got me!

Im rocking Darkhaven. My US/AUS friends are on there.

Sea of sorrows was really full in the beta as well.

They confirmed to introduce oceanic servers later on (Proper oceanic server too i believe), so probably offer those living in australia/new zealand free transfer to that.
