lines between the pixels

Recommended Posts

I looked close at my plasma television and I noticed there are black lines between the pixels. I thought maybe it was a plasma thing or a cheap plasma thing. I looked at LCD televisions and they had the lines too. Is this common to all plasma and LCD displays? I looked at my LCD computer monitor and couldn't see lines but I wonder if that is just because the pixels and lines are much smaller.

larger TVs typically still only have a 1920x1080 resolution... the same as 23" (and some smaller) computer screens.

So yes, it's just a case of pixel density - higher res, higher pixel density. Larger screen, lower pixel density.

They are starting to release '4k' screens for TVs now though... That's (roughly) 4000x2000 pixels, or about 8 megapixels. Which is the resolution that a lot of digital cinema is recorded at.

They're actually still there, just harder to see. Grey is a good colour that shows them up. If you look at they grey colours on this forum you'll see them pretty clearly.

So, in answer to your question, yes. Although someone with more knowledge on the subject may be able to answer what I believe is called "pitch".
