What's on your mind?

OMM ... first contact in almost 40 years with a relation. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy moment, pleasant enough but I reckon it fell just short of a totally civilised ( by the general norm ) meeting.

Distracting really.

Job fatigue.

I've been in this industry for going on 26 years now. 8 in uniform and 18 with my company.

I don't hate the job and I don't plan on leaving it. I enjoy the hell out of it for the most part. I haven't stagnated, growing from an analyst 18 years ago to management and running several large programs at the same time. Fun for the most part.

... pondering this a bit tonight. Music. I'd try classical, but it's your head not mine;)

Marcus Hutchins, a British-based malware researcher who gained attention for detecting a "kill switch" that effectively disabled the WannaCry worm in May, was detained by FBI officials in Nevada, a US Marshals Service spokeswoman said

And on the subject... looks like we've got a flood attack in progress.

As for the Wannacry thing - I thought it a bit reckless that the guy without much apparent prior investigation just went and registered the domain name he found. Just lucky that it triggered it to shutdown rather than do something worse.

Hmm,

iinet killed it very quickly, a DDOS, not affecting me at all but might lock and load for the good of all :)

Cheers

By flood I meant a flood of threads. Probably 300+ mostly in Community Events, of what looked like a paragraph block of random Chinese characters per thread.

Hmm,

Then we are talking at cross purposes - there is a rather nasty DDOS in progress but I'll go have a look at the one you have seen - I never go there so would not have noticed.

Cheers

It's back to normal now. Rather than the once every couple of hours spammy link we usually get this one was several a minute.

Yeah, had a look, saw nothing unusual - sounds like a Chinese drive-by - they happen - no idea why :)

Our renewal lease ( due to be signed and lodged in a couple of months ) shows no increase for the following year. My instinct is to get it signed and lodged real quick :)

You post as an averagely sane person would . I think that says the music is helping :P ... but then my sanity is definitely arguable.

Wow only in an Aussie country town !

Walt was in the supermakert this arvo on his way home. Decided to grab an extra twenty from the machine ... got all the way home to realise he'd not picked up the twenty bucks.

Rang them and was told " yep the money was there " :)

This place is just too good sometimes:)

Geez...

Just how many remarkable people are going to die this year ?

Sam Shepard died - I never really took much notice of him as an actor, he did more cameo stuff such as in "The Right Stuff" and "Blackhawk Down" but in the background he did massive amounts of stuff.

Another loss...

Cheers

PITA. Streaming service for 9 has decided they won't let you watch the live NRL game. Streaming for 7Mate doesn't have the AFL, probably defaulting to Sydney or something.

So have to resort to channel surfing between the 2. Suppose I could dig around for another antenna cable and set the USB tuner up but just can't be bothered.

For those still up... partial Lunar eclipse imminent, starting around 1:50AM. Problem is the maximum eclipse (24%) isn't until about 2.5 hours later.

Link, probably some better ones around, time references to UTC and American time which is barely relevant considering they won't even see it.

Even with all the cloud blanketing us it was a particularly bright night. And warm. Past several nights now the humidity and warmth have been a little foreboding for this time of the year.

Gives one the impression it's gonna be a doozy of a summer

I few months ago my wife found a lump in her breast, scans have shown that and other cysts. She's at an appointment in a specialist clinic which may turn into an all-day thing depending on what tests they want to do. I'm waiting for her call after her first appointment to go in and be with her. Hopefully it's all benign.

The waiting and not knowing is all that occupies my thoughts at the moment :(
