Black Mesa Source Gameplay Leaked!

Recommended Posts

You're supposed to jump down the back of the dam, dive underwater, and go through it via the pipes.

ARgh! I knew it would be something like that. I should have played HL1 thru again before I played this. Thanks brah! :)

Back to enjoyment mode again :} ...to be continued...

Anyone want to take bets as to how long Flouncy's enjoyment will last?

I'm over it. Old school is too old. Corridors, rooms, vent shafts, 98% of doors won''t open, rushing surprise bastards with no time to plan, endless reloading, agonizingly slow weapons progression, no fucken ammo, level design trying to be clever but only frustrates, no feeling of reward or satisfaction, hopeless player movement, stuck in doors, can't quite reach jump point, fucken vent shafts, ten more doors I can't open, insta-spawn bosses, reload reload reload reload reload reload.

Nah, fuck it.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the 1990's FPS design in a nutshell.

As for me, I'm absolutely loving it at the moment.

EDIT: Just finished it, absolutely brilliant effort all round.

sounds good here should be more of this in todays games

although a lot of games suffer from reload times being to slow

Shooting down the chopper with rockets is far harder than I remember it being.

Also, the minefield scene is shit. You can see the mines in plain sight? WTF? How is that even a challenge? At least in the original you had to actually clear the ground of mines before walking there.

It would be interesting to know if there are any young kids out there, or people who have been living in a fallout shelter for the last 20 years or something, who have never played original Half-Life. I would like to see what their thoughts are. Does this absolutely blow their minds today, like the original did for me when it was released?

The Chopper is actually a boss fight.

actually i played the original HL for the first time weeks ago and got through the first minefield by skirting around the edge. i didn't realise why there was grenades and shotgun ammo everywhere.

It still feels like Half Life to me, I'm just out past the blast pit atm and it all feels very familiar so far, not that its a bad thing, its nice.

Finally finished it. The final battle before jumping into the void was a lot easier than I remember, but that aside it's a fantastic mod, and I can't wait to see what they do with the Xen world.
