Islamist attack Sydney police over offensive youtube video

Recommended Posts

In closing, i'd like to share this: at the recent beerathon, i met up with goth. He's a top bloke, and a fierce athiest. When i saw him that night i shook his hand and proclamed "Jesus loves you my brother!", and he in turn smiled and brought me a drink. Take from that what you will. :)

Nod and smile at the crazy people and buy them sedatives.

The question which is coming into everyone's minds is what happens now?

If they get off lightly we will see the next riot being more dangerous for everyone. Australia needs to make a stand now or else these people will laugh at us and continue on.

Did you say the same thing about the riots in the shire in 2005?

"Emergency change of date it's on tomorrow!!! They have mocked him in pictures and now MOCKING HIM in a MOVIE WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THIS!!!! WHY ARE WE SILENCED ....WE MUST DEFEND HIS HONOUR.... Tomorrow 15.9.12 @ TOWN HALL STATION 1PM... WE MUST ACT NOW!!!!!!!!! Spread the word fast!!!"

That is the text message that triggered the aggressive response. It was sent on Friday, the same day police were alerted via facebook.

News Link.

It obviously didn't take much for them to feel that they had to take action. The next day, surely enough, well. you guys know the rest of the story.

Definition of an Act of Terrorism as defined by the Australian government:

i. coercing, or influencing by intimidation, the government of the Commonwealth or a State, Territory or foreign country, or part of a State, Territory or foreign country; or

ii. intimidating the public or a section of the public;

and where the action

(a) causes serious harm that is physical harm to a person; or

(b) causes serious damage to property; or

© causes a person's death; or

(d) endangers a person's life, other than the life of the person taking the action; or

(e) creates a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public;

I think Police' skulls cracked open, damage to property, and intimidation to the public, while creating serious risk to the health &/or safety of the public or section of the public fits well within this definition, and maybe should be treated a little more seriously.

Let's summarise.

1. shitty video made

2. Islam not happy.

3. Text message asking for protest on saturday.

4. Protesting.

5. 100 people(approx) were involved in a riot

6. 300 police officers were controlling the scene.

7. only 8 people arrested

/end statement.

wow ... well then ...

So I think the thin that saddens me about this whole thing is like a cycle of stupidity (stolen from the Project). Basically one moron makes a retarded movie that is designed to be insulting and i worthy of the front page of 4chan. The retarded media reports on it. People opposed to this setup a peaceful protest, then a retarded minority turn it violent. Then retarded bigots who only needed a reason to speak up can now use this as their flagship and veil it as a "oh no I only mean those people" when it's quite clear where they're coming from.

It's really sad and all those involved should indeed be ashamed (but they won't, nor will this message even get through).

Since moving to ACT I've had the pleasure of working with 2 Muslims. Both of them are nice guys one of which is more Aussie than me (if Aussie were indeed a thing). I don't believe in their Religion, nor do they follow my beliefs, yet we all got along and respected one another. Go figure.

New York Times editorial, 2 October 1999, on Andres Serrano’s Piss Christ -- a Jesus on the cross submerged in the artist’s urine— and Chris Ofili’s The Holy Virgin Mary, covered in elephant dung and pornographic images:

“To be sure, many citizens of conscience find parts of the Brooklyn exhibition repugnant, and it is understandable that many Roman Catholics would find Chris Ofili’s image of the Virgin Mary offensive. Others would agree with our colleague William Safire that while the Brooklyn Museum has a right to show what it likes, the administrators have been clumsy or needlessly provocative. Yet a Daily News poll shows that the majority of New Yorkers support the museum over Mayor Giuliani by a ratio of two to one. Those numbers show a broad-based support for New York’s role as the nation’s cultural capital. The people understand intuitively what Mr. Giuliani ignores for political gain. A museum is obliged to challenge the public as well as to placate it, or else the museum becomes a chamber of attractive ghosts, an institution completely disconnected from art in our time.

New York Times editorial, 12 September 2012:

[W]hoever made the film [alleged to have incited Libyan and Cairo embassy riots and murders] did true damage to the interests of the United States and its core principle of respecting all faiths..

The world's most dangerous religion, with the most violent hatred, with the highest religious kill tally, the most bigoted and by far the most integrated into law - for some reason criticism of this religion is stupid and bad.

Yet make a far worse criticism of christianity, throw shit at the cross and what?

Riots?

Beheadings?

Anyone?

It's ok Leonid, we know you hate Muslims. I'm not looking to you for a balanced opinion or something for me to think about, you and the idiots who were violently protesting can keep spouting hate at each other. That seems to be working well.

I think the people arrested should have their citizenship revoked. Plain and simple. If they were born here then deport them to the country of origin of their parents.

This needs to be done. They or their parents came here for a better life. It's not a better life for them or anyone if everyone lives in fear.

If the person is religious there will be little use in talking them round, they are entitled to their religion. Actions speak louder than words.

And the sort of actions that will eventually work in the grand scheme of things - tolerance, friendship, etc. - are too slow for the present issue.

These actions will continue regardless anyway, as there are muslim peeps out there, who are more than just religious.

As Reapermann said the 21st century is new to them, alien even, it's got to be difficult for them, but the muslim does understand the hard line being taken ... it's in their blood.

The hard line needs to be taken with those that have been arrested. The others also involved yet not arrested will see that Australia as a nation is not going to cowtow to any religion.

If their women can stand two feet from a child holding a placard calling for a beheading, then they're definitely strong enough to handle sending some of their cohorts out of Australia.

It must be made blatantly clear to all that Australia is not a typical MiddleEastern country. They or their parents left those countries to survive. They came here and pledged allegiance to Australia

and it's laws. No threats, that's just cowardice, just action.

/This should also be the case for that lot who were charged with mutilating those two little girls. It's against Australian law.

What's that line everyone seems to use about America? You don't hate Americans, you hate their government?

Yeah...

See, I hate Islam, not Muslims.

Maybe I'm not one of the cool kids who gets all hot and bothered about Scientology... because a fool and his money are soon parted... I seem to worry more about the rampaging religious hordes destroying rights, history and culture as they strive to establish the 7the Century.

Agreed. Mostly.

With exception to this "If they were born here then deport them to the country of origin of their parents."

That's not cool at all.

I think that's rather telling.

What do you call someone who hates a political-religious-social system that in it's most widely practised form around the world contains these gems:

1. State-sanctioned homophobia and penalties ranging up to death for being accused of homophobia

2. Honour killings

3. State-sanctioned religious and gender apartheid

4. Regressive and regressing female rights

5. Opposition to legal reform through separation of mosque and state

6. opposition to criticism, expressed through violent means

7. Use of slavery through import of citizens from 3rd world nations and confiscating their papers to lock them into zero-sum employment (that's how Dubai is being built)

8. Funding of the deadliest and most counter-intelligent weapon of mass destruction in the world - propagandised religious hatred

?

Edit: "State-sanctioned homophobia and penalties ranging up to death for being accused of homophobia" should read "State-sanctioned homophobia and penalties ranging up to death for being accused of homosexual acts"

Come on xyzzy and Gharph... explain to me why when I hate on Scientology, no-one has a problem.

Say one word about Islam, and it's fucking stacks on.

Why? You guys gonna tell me Islam's better for your health than Scientology? You gonna tell me the vast majority of Scientologists are nice normal people?

Here's a hint: Every religion is fucking crazy. Every one. But Islam accounts for every religion's excesses combined, 20 times over.

When Islam starts conducting itself politically, socially, religiously the way Christianity and Judaism do - that will be the day I start thinking of Islam in the same way I do of Christianity and Judaism.

Oh, and that sentence above... that's paraphrasing Shah Reza of Iran.

Put it this way - when Islamic states start acting like they did in the 50s and 60s, then they and the religion they ran on will be worthy of more respect than they deserve now.

Look at pictures of the *stans in the 50s and 60s and even early 70s. Women wore miniskirts and alcohol was all over the joint. A US Presidential Candidate (Bob Barr) was even a 1966 graduate of a Tehran high school.

And now what? They get fucking beheaded if caught wearing a miniskirt.

How can anyone do anything but hate a religion that not only proscribes this sort of punishment, but also carries it out in places where the religion is the law?

This thread makes me embarrassed to be associated with the human race. Same as what happened on Saturday. Same as what happened in Cronulla years ago.

I don't care what you call yourself or where you come from or whom you worship. Carrying on like a maniacal bogan just makes me cringe.

Tell me about this peaceful majority, which although it may be peaceful, always seems to (when given half a chance) elect Islamists who represent the values above, to replace secular dictators?

Well, why don't you tell me why you're running the surfers comparison with the people described above?

It's pretty fucking simple Leonid, I'm surprised that I have to explain it to you. I shouldn't be, because we both know that you understand perfectly well why I put the pictures of the Cronulla riot. I suspect you'll ignore the logic I'm about to explain to you and, instead, use it as a wedge to keep this conversation going.

But allow me to indulge you a little longer.

This thread started with, amongst others, comments such as:

The prophet's a fucking cunt, come at me insane religious nutjobs.

...and:

I am just glad I don't live in an area with to many of the devout muslims....

...and:

We should start splitting up these muslim communities...

...and probably most specifically:

The only people who are inciting hate and dividing people are these idiots...

All of these comments appeared in the thread prior to my contribution.

THE REASON I POSTED PICTURES OF THE CRONULLA RIOT was in response to these posts. I wanted to make the simple point that the act of rioting is hardly peculiar to Muslims and that, in fact, Australians have a track record of rioting on similarly trivial grounds. So, if you're going to judge the entire Muslim community on the act of no more than 100 people yesterday, then you ought to apply that same metric to Australians who did exactly the same thing in 2005 - except on a larger scale. I wanted to make the point that, by tarring the entire Islaminc community with the same brush, we'd be just engaging in the (as Chuck Norris so elegantly put it) "generalised hatred" that kicked of the riots, Cronulla and Sydney, in the first place.

Included in my post was the following:

We live in a civil society and will continue to behave as such - even if imbeciles, Muslim or "Aussie" want otherwise.

Which should have indicated fairly strongly that I find the behaviour repugnant, regardless of who was engaging in it. At no stage did I put forward any justification for either party rioting - unlike others here who have attempted to justify the Cronulla riots.. Yet that didn't stop you and others attempting to make out that I somehow sympathise with the rioters on in Sydney last week.

Here's the thing Leonid. I have a barely amoeba level of sapience, but it allows me understand that Harmonic Cacophony was undulging in a bit of hyperbole to illustrate the stupidity of people who riot of a tiny religious slight. I have also come to expect the sort of sort of rubbish that ensued, and that frankly always issues, from the childish likes of Xnatex, Betsie, Nesquick and Codecreeper. But for some stupid reason I expect more from your intellect, even if I continually find myself disappointed. You knew full well what was going on, yet you sided with the children on why I decided to post the Cronulla riots. Not only did you side with the children in attacking me for posting those pictures, but you've continued it from page upon page, right up until now. I don't know why, but I kind of naively hoped that someone like you might say "Hey, I can see that the point Xyzzy's making is not siding or sympathising with the rioters on the weekend... Although I disagree with his argument generally and here's why........".

But it's becoming apparent that that's just a bridge too fucking far with you Leonid. There was a time when I thought you'd be an interesting debating opponent, one where we could argue our respective points, engage in a bit of hyperbole, even get testy with each other, but maintain a basic level of respect. But, as time has passed, it has become apparent that you're not interested in a discussion.

You're not interested in listening to other people's ideas.

You just want to tell everyone how fucking right you are.

So there's my explanantion about why I thought the Cronulla Riots were relevant to this thread, and why I'm getting to the point where I really just can't be arsed talking to you anymore. It's a shame, because I can't help but feel that we'll both be a little the lesser for it.

You conveniently forget that the Cronulla riots happened as a result of people who were sick of the Lebs who congregated in their hundreds on an almost daily basis on the beaches there with the sole intent of causing trouble.

Tolerance only goes so far. And history has shown, Australians generally have an extremely long fuse as opposed to the hair trigger reaction we saw on Saturday.

You'd be pushing it to use much more than the fingers of one hand to count major acts of civil unrest in the history of this country, and they've generally occurred when the people involved have been pushed and shoved to the point where they've just said enough is enough, and snapped:

- Rum Rebellion

- Eureka Stockade

- Cronulla Riots

That's a lie.

Show me one report, just one, of hundreds of "Lebs" on the beach.

The incident that sparked the Cronulla riot was when a group of four "Lebs" assaulted a life guard.

Get that?

FOUR.

This is illustrative of the ignorance that starts riots in the first place. Thanks for making my point for me.

That was the final straw in the ongoing trouble they were causing.

Do you think that a riot would ensue just because of an isolated incident of 4 people attacking 1? Attacks of that sort occur practically weekly in this country.

You conveniently ignore the trouble that was brewing before the riots and try to pass the whole thing off as a spontaneous racist protest based on a single attack. It was something that was waiting to happen for years.

Why don't you do your own research? Aren't you in WA? No doubt you just got the daily report and have NFI about the ongoing events on the east coast anyway.

Plus of course, being PC-brainwashed you have that default setting that it's always the minority group being victimised.

Actually I've lived in Sydney all of my life, I've lived in WA for 6 months.

I don't need to do my research. I'm telling you that you're wrong. I'm telling you that you're lying when you say that there were hundreds of "Lebs" at the beach.

What is it about demanding facts that makes it Political Correctness? This has got nothing to do with "political correctness".

This isn't a episode of Star Wars. There's no goodies and baddies, just people.
