Star Citizen / Squadrdon 42 - a real PC game

Recommended Posts

So i'm looking at buying this today, but there seams to only be 6 months worth of Insurance.

I heard that there is a way around this by getting an existing player to gift it to you. Is this true?

correct, you buy the package and gift it to an existing veteran/orginial backer, they exchange it for store credit (takes 24hrs before it can exchanged), they buy the same package with LTI and gift it back

Check PM SOJ.

just in case you have trouble, this thread over on SC forums has a howto guide on reclaiming packages (well, upgrading them, but the steps are still applicable to reclaiming the package as credit, buying new package with said credit, ready to be gifted back with LTI).

bought the Next Generation Aurora LTI pack for my little bro, He loved freelancer as much as i did, esp the mod with the ships from the stargate tv show.

Currently He is interested in the hornet, but wants to see how crippled its range will be, and if upgraded fuel pods will let him explore and/or keep up with my 315p before laying down any of his own money.

Just an FYI, I've migrated my account over this week from the old system. My nick is KrispyAUS (Couldn't get Krispy89)

As well, they just broke the 23 Million barrier

Yep, did you notice this little gem?

Enhanced Alpha – We will use additional funding to build a wider alpha test than we had originally intended for the first phase of Star Citizen’s launch. The initial plan was to first launch servers in North America and then expand to areas such as Europe and Australia to decrease latency in these areas, perfecting the game as we improve the experience around the world. This funding will allow us to invest in a wider infrastructure for our early testing, spinning up remote servers earlier. Hitting this goal will also allow us to increase the number of remaining alpha slots. Extra alpha slots not only means more Star Citizens will travel the ‘verse at launch, but that we will receive more feedback and more stress testing. This in turn will allow us to better balance and enhance the Star Citizen experience!

Aus servers are planned, and guaranteed when they hit 25m in funding :)

AFAIK fighters like the hornet aren't even jump capable! Brochure for it will be out soon though so that could be wrong.

Also variants are supposed to be released this weekend. One of them is already confirmed as a 2 seater.

If he wants to keep up with your 315P, maybe get the 325A if he wants to keep focused on the pew pews?

FYI, only the merlin isn't jump capable, everything else at this stage is, however, the hornet doesn't come with a jump drive in stock configuration, but can be upgraded to have one according to Q&A on wingmans hanger :)

I suggested the 325A, but like i said, he prefers the hornet, and is waiting to see what happens with the hornet variants, i might by one myself now for the LTI, and if he wants it later, he can reimburse me the cost and have it.

anybody see this floating around the SC forums?

Apparently the SWACS hornet version also arriving Tuesday (Wed for us)

The Hornet here I have heard will not be SWACS. Gossip suggests that the new hornet will be ECM based like the US navy fighters. Think Prowler and Growler

hornet variants are now up + commercial and brochure. the ghost and tracker are permanent additions, with the super hornet being the limited edition/availability ship, available to November 4th in the US

Variants cost

ghost $125

tracker $140

super hornet $165

or in package form:

ghost (spectre) $140

tracker (swacs) $155

super hornet (weekend warrior) $180

must say, when i saw the ghost variant, i thought that would be a pretty good ship to own, i can see them being a nightmare for 315p owners who just want to be left alone, unless you can fit some of that void armor to the 315p. Im so going to buy one

the game keeps getting better and better! i wonder what the Constellation variants will end up like?

Cool. The best thing about all this - and obviously what they want to achieve - is showing us the potential upgrade paths we can take.

I just know life in my 315p is gonna be a bit harder.

The video ad is just pure space porn :D

That stealth hornet would be fun (might work towards owning one once game is live), but I upgraded to the limited super hornet. Bigger power plant and jump drive included vs the other frames did it for me, plus moar gunzzzz! It's what this ship was made for.

Looking forward to some Freelancer variants!

Yeah I expect to use my Hornet less than my other ships, but felt the need to include a decent fighter in the mix - cos Wing Commander.

But I may end up using it heaps. I'll still focus on tweaking it up to be an ultimate badass killing machine, but until we know more about range and engines and that stuff all a bit of a lovely mystery.

Can't say I've been following this game very closely but after reading through this thread and then hitting up their website, I'm about to take the plunge and pledge. Question is, how much, which ship... So many good options!
