Eggnog

Recommended Posts

It's Christmas and I'm an adult. While I'm not visiting family I'd still like to be fairly merry through the next few days.

Having never made eggnog for myself before, anyone got some tips?

I think this looks good enough

I'm thinking of just using rum, though.

Gives me an excuse to finally try Captain Morgan's too ;)

I have an easier recipe. 3 600ml BIG M eggnogs mix with 700ml of rum. Done.

Looks pretty standard.

I'm not a huge fan of eggnog, but this is 'right'. (Note: I don't have a sweet tooth. So, take my opinion with a grain of salt/sugar)

If you want to go REALLY old school:

Wassail.

You've heard of wassailers (Carol singers). This is what it was all about. TRADITIONALLY you'd have a big bowl of Wassail near the door. Wassailers would sing by your door and sing until each had a drink of your wassail (All sipping from your bowl). Move to next house. Kinda like a really demented trick or treat.

Now think about a certain christmas song which has "We won't go until we get some". Yup.. There is a big coincidence going on with this one.. :P

they wanted figgy pudding in that song....

i'm all for a yuletide daiquiri

2oz sugar syrup

3oz white rum

4oz lemon juice

a dozen ripe strawberries and ice

blend and enjoy

even better if you can add 1/2oz of maraschino, but these days it's a rare beast in the wild

take that, santa !
