Simcity.

Saw that.

I haven't tried the latest iteration. I'm still waiting for a fix to commuting.

However, from the last I played, the patch before latest, it is significantly advanced. Truly it has. I think I stated previously that it's now at the stage it should have been on release. If they release what they have now at release, then they would have MANY more people still actively playing. I suppose that's what they email is kind of about. It's like a "HEY! We've finally released it. There's still a few bugs, but we're working on them. Just forget all that other stuff happened. Isn't this a great RELEASE!"

Will keep you posted on the next bit of patching as it comes out. I still want to enjoy it. It's getting close. But I can't do that until they fix commuting. I want to create a 'residential city' that stars out to industry cities, and tech cities etc. As is, that's unworkable.

I suppose that might be true, but I feel burned having my money used to finish a game they claimed was perfect (multiple times) to be what was effectively a beta tester.

Oh but I got that Nissan Leaf DLC, that makes it all better :)

Been playing again using the new expansion.

I dig it.

A lot.

There are still bugs that happen, but nothing unmanagable. I'm in the middle of building an Arcology for the first time. Hoping it doesn't ruin my otherwise managed traffic.

In Update 10, you can still play solo in Regions on your own, or in Multiplayer with people from around the world. What’s new is the Single Player Mode, which allows you to play the game Offline by yourself. And because your saved games in this mode are stored locally, you can save and load to your heart’s content. Our team will be delivering a follow-up blog that will outline the full details in the near future so stay tuned.

So what does this mean for the Online game? All of the benefits of being connected will remain including access to Multiplayer, the Global Market and Leaderboards. And all of your pre-existing saved cities and regions will still be accessible should you log-in to the Online game.

Interesting development. Might reduce some frustration playing the game... amusing that they were so vehement about requiring the cloud for computations, now they're allowing entirely local mode.

Bit of discussion over at the SimCity subreddit.

lol imagine how different the game launch would have been if they did this in the first place.

kinda makes me a lil bit angry, but it kinda makes me wanna install simcity again (lost the install when i did the SSD upgrade)

I would like it if singleplayer mode had the option to make your cities run in the back ground while you are managing another city

Indeed.

Now give me 1 way streets and better commuting and I'd actually give this game a 6/10. (Enjoyable but not OMG!)

Give me larger maps as well, and we'd seriously be talking.

I love sim games, and love the simcity series, but this one feels like it could be a great game, but then they hobbled it. Fix the hobbling and we get a great game.

Been getting back into this a little lately.

Definitely improved over the release version!

But still, I always feel like the city is forever demanding stuff I can't afford, and the lots are still way too small.

It's annoying having to make small, specialized cities (more like towns, amirite?) that need to be constantly redeveloped... rather than one do-it-all city.

Offline has come to SimCity - play anywhere, anytime!

You asked, we listened: You can now play SimCity offline with the latest game update*.

No Internet connection needed! Play the game offline in a new Single-Player Mode and save it locally to your computer.

Single-Player Mode enables you to experiment with your cities and regions. Regret that Sci-Fi Casino or Statue of Liberty landmark? Reload your game and start over!

Single-Player Mode also gives you the opportunity to make gameplay modifications. Learn more about Modding in SimCity.

Check out the SimCity Blog to learn more about Single-Player Mode, plus read about the engineering work that enables Offline play.
