actually the motherboard (mobo) will have very little effect on the system speed when at stock, and only differances will appear when overclocking.

More features to load on a high end motherboard can also bring longer load times, disabling some features mitigates this, but it still stands to reason, loading more controllers and features for the bios, would add small delays much like having the raid controller delay apon startup.
