That Asus looks alright...

But you need to fix your link- it is currently pointing to an LG monitor...

thanks. I tried to fix link but doesnt seem to want to go to spec page.

Think its worth going an extra $100 over the $200 monitors?

Is 5ms bad for gaming? e.g. Starcraft 2, Skyrim

Does this monitor go over 75hz for gfx cards?

Im also hearing hype for Dell 2412M but cant seem to find any

Do you know approximately how long?

Im guessing its better than the Asus?

Asus

72Hz (better FPS for GFX?)

5ms

Dell

60Hz

8ms (maybe more ghosting?)

dell has extra screen height being 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080

8ms is fast enough imo not many people can notice ghosting at that speed

So its 1.5ish inch extra height and 2 extra, closer USB ports + portrait mode Vs Built in speakers and a closer headphone jack + pretty design

Oh that pretty design... And I guess the speakers can give my ears a rest from headphones.... Oh that pretty design

Hope 1080 isnt too widescreeny

I was kinda looking at this bc the specs are crazy good:

asus

but its not 1200.

The Acer GD235HZbid looks cheaper and has high refresh but hard to find.

I took the dive, there was only 1 Asus left (In my location, I'm pretty sure there was at least 3 a few weeks ago) and who knows when the Dell will drop, I've got the money, so I snatched it.

It was on "preorder" so have to wait for it to arrive at their store.

I asked them about the dead pixel warranty and the sent me here: https://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/MX...upport_Warranty

There seems to be a few different warranties for different models

ZBD - zero bright dot

PA Series - ?

Non-ZBD

Just not sure which mine falls under

just got this in today.

0 white pixels

0 black pixel

I think the aspect ratio needs adjusting tho, the bottom of the display is not even touching the bottom of the screen. same goes for the edges.

Anyone know how to do this? i've looked through all the monitor button options, the closest thing was OSD which only changed the position of the monitor menu/setup :/

maybe i cant change this... and if thats so, then this is false advertising:

(Made a pic) Posted Image

Though the monitor back light IS the display as in the advertised picture, its just that windows needs to be stretched to fit it. Which im not sure can be done...

The monitor speakers are definitely over hyped in Asus's advertising. They sound very hollow and just general bad/low quality. my netbook laptop speakers shit all over them, as im sure every netbook's probably would. Though this was expected from the reviews i read, if not i thought they might of been a little more clearer in the treble. Very hollow, mostly base which isnt even base.

edit: 0 black pixels, it was just dirt lol (silly me)

it should only be smaller like that if the resolution is below the monitors native

In control panel it says its 1920x1080. When i change it to 1680x1050, it fills the screen out.

hmm...

fixed it.

CCC > My Digital Flat-Panels > Properties Digital Flat Panel > Enable GPU scaling. (not sure if this was necessary)

then

CCC > My Digital Flat-Panels > Scaling Options Digital Flat-Panel > set Overscan to 0%

Thanks again Dasa

Now to change it from 60hz to 75hz if only it gave me that option, i wonder why its not showing up

I assume you're using a hdmi connection. I have no idea why, but using HDMI will mean you need overscan whereas dvi it doesn't, happened on a few monitors I've used with hdmi.

I fixed it, thanks guys.

I am using hdmi (from monitor) with dvi convertor (to gfx card). This is the cord that came with the monitor.

I fixed it by changing the scaling in the gfx card program CCC.

---------------

Its not giving me the option to go above 60hz, that i can find in CCC and desktop settings. Would this be because the cord isnt hdmi on both ends?

I know the monitor is capable of either 72hz or 75hz
