Intel Haswell

Recommended Posts

Well blimey, look at that-

(Just got issue 188/July of PCT&A in the mail today)

Sandy Bridge 2600K: 1.0

Ivy Bridge 3700K: 1.06

Haswell 4770K: 1.12

This is what I mean when I say tick-tock doesn't disappoint. It's not revolutionary, but it's always consistent and you can make reliable expectations for the next generation. Pricing doesn't really change either, so all this makes it easier to make "In 1.5 years, I can expect to pay $400 for 6% more performance" plans. That, is very useful.

Okay... get some thoughts on the following?

My Haswell Build

Edit:

Though there is this that i could use instead of the Corsair kit, but I've always used Corsair and never had any problems.

So G Skill gear ok then? If i can save $115 on the ram and spend that part of my credit on something else. Maybe a better board?

Gskill is great, it's all about what IC the set has

I used to have a set of Gskill trident 6gb tri channel kit, 2000mhz c9, did c8 no worries, they had BBSE chips, great ram

Wow they are bringing out another chipset next year for ivy-e, "z97".

Does this mean another socket?

Ooh, shiny!

What case is that?

Corsair 650D

was just an awesome case to put together, only thing i'd like to see improved is change to internal front panel usb3 connector and just even an extra 1 cm of space behind the motherboard tray for cable routing, otherwise it's almost perfect for me :D
