Steam trading card trading thread

Recommended Posts

Is this like trading cards where if you have a complete set it sells for more, or is it one of those things where a "rare" card is all it's about.

Once you make a set, you can craft it into a badge.

But you get a set number of drops per game and thus it forces you into trading/buying.

Sometimes the card that drops is a 'foil'

And the more badges you have, the better your chances of having a booster pack drop...

OK.. And now in English. With the fact that I have 8 games on my steam account in mind.

Some Steam games have card sets

These sets range from 5 to 8 (maybe more?) in 1 set.

When you play one of these games that have the cards.

You have a set number of drops (where you will get a card).

This set number can be from 3 to 5 depending on how many cards are in the set.

Once all your drops are used up you must trade or buy cards to get the rest of the set.

Sometimes you'll get a fancy card, which is a foil.

Once you have a set, you can turn the set into a badge.

Once you have a badge you have a higher chance of getting more cards.

You can sell the cards on the Steam Market for money for your Steam Wallet

Cool. Got it. That makes sense.

I just want to confirm one thing. These Badges/cards have no 'value' in sense of money or steam. So I can't trade a badge for a game for example. I must trade it with another 'human' who needs the card/badge and VOILA money to spend on a game.

Correct?

pretty much.

Depending on how many are on the market will determine the price you can sell it for.

If you look at your inventory you'll have a 'sell' button when you select one of the cards.

When I've had a look they're selling for between $0.40 and $1.50 depending on the card.

Cool.. WEllllll.

Step 1.. Earn a card.. Literally. Got 0. :P

Hence why I know NOTHING!

Thanks mate. You answers were incredibly helpful and will hopefully end confusion when the time comes that I earn one.

Forty cents? More like ten. You're doing well if you've got something going for forty.

I last looked when it was in 'closed' beta

Seems like a great way to be making some money for just playing games.

I might have to install steam again and get playing again!

I made exactly $1.64 by selling all the cards I got from the steam sale. Not much, but free money is free money, and when I'm buying games for less than $5 each anyway it's a pretty reasonable discount for doing nothing.
