Law on open wifi?

Recommended Posts

I live in the highest house, with the tallest antenna, on a pretty big street near public transport.

I also have a spare wireless router, with removable antenna, a USB port, and it just happens to support OpenWRT.

Are there laws against whacking a Wireless N\G antenna on my roof, and having an open wifi connection, with a file sharing 64GB USB stick, completely offline? aka. oldschool 'BrisMesh'?

So after some googling it seems the law is questionable if you're providing free internet; because some people could claim you're an ISP, albeit a free one.

HOWEVER, at approved stock levels, on approved stock hardware, therer seems to be no law against mesh networks.

I thought Brismesh was still running?

Fairly sure I donated a server to someone for a similar sounding kinda deal.
