Internet upgrade question

Recommended Posts

Do you get 4G where you are?

While the limits are small, most people are seeing 50Mbps down, 20mbps+ up. <40ms ping.

If you're in an 850mhz Vodafone area, its pretty safe to expect good results :)

depends how much data you need. I personally only use about 20GB a month in total; so 8GB when i 'need speed' would be enough for me.

Telstra's coverage map suggests a likely download speed of between 550k and 3m download speeds for that area. Situation for peeps out in the sticks really is different to that confronting peeps in metro areas.

Oh! And Vodaphone is only listing 3G (regional) available.

Well armidale (10 km away) has the nbn, but my parents want to stay here.

Checked if you are in the NBN Fixed wireless reception area?

Zooming in here

Gives some coverage around Dangarsleigh for NBN fixed wireless.

NBN fixed wireless speeds are either 12/1 or 25/5 depending on plan and most people will get near those speeds as long as reception is good.

Cool, a small segment of our place now has reception apparently. :)

Over the actual house? Or just "up the paddock" somewhere?

The reception maps are far from perfect so all you can do is apply with an RSP and see what they say.

If they tell you you are out of the coverage fight for it to actually be tested.

With fixed wireless you can have 12/1 or 25/5 speeds and you should get near those speeds so long as reception is acceptable.

Try Internode, or Skymesh. Skymesh in particular seem to be going the extra mile for NBN fixed wireless customers, at least on Whirlpool.
