how crap is this government ?

Who ?

Those fires are burning literally out in the middle of nowhere, you cannot set up any effective water bombing, even if there were the ability to get them in theatre, and there isn't.  Basically we are helpless and can only let them burn out.

Which may take a few never yet known tribes and God alone knows how many species we have yet to identify to the brink of extinction, or beyond...

That so-called leader needs to go but it is too late for this latest obscenity.

Cheers

Hey is it fair to now accuse Labor of xenophobia and racism given how they demonise legally-arriving asylum seekers in our airports?

Asking for a woke friend.

Asking for a woke friend.

Why would you need to ask that question, given a) WA ALP conference, b) NSW ALP ICAC?

🙂

Because it is Leo, on an anti-socialism Crusade - although the claim does have potential merit  🙂

No, actually it is not at all, but one man's socialism can be another man's right wing, one size does not fit all.

If someone’s socialism is another man’s right wing, that man is a communist.

Which is basically a socialist but without even the pretence of trying to be a human being above base animal instincts.

🙂  🙂

Very true,  a rather famous Science Fiction author once remarked that communism made perfect sense for insects, then proceeded to illustrate his point by comparing the beliefs to a bee hive.

Never was a truer word spoken.

To put that into perspective, I would hire @twinair in a heartbeat despite the fact that he knows far less about my core technical requirements than I need. The ability to think is far far more important than tech skills, and even more importantly - if I’m going to pay someone in the high hundred $k, I want a commercial head on a broad set of shoulders.

Sound economic management.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/grogonomics/2019/aug/29/australia-managed-to-survive-the-global-recession-but-all-that-good-work-has-been-wasted

Anyone want to make odds on if or when folks wake up to the fact that Labor are better at it?

'Sound economic management' is just code for blatant corruption, sucking off the 0.1%, and increasing wealth disparity, it seems.

Chris, your favourite LNP state govenment is privatising your power network

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-08-28/back-up-power-generators-leased-to-private-companies/11457824

Hmm,

Not sure if that will be good or bad.

Less blackouts - good  - possibility of costs going even higher, bad.

On the other hand it just might put some competition into power supply in S.A.  and, at last, bring prices down a bit, they truly are ridiculous.

Although you do sort of miss the point, power has been privatised here for years but it makes little difference. AGL are I suppose the dominant player.

One of my in-laws is with the Energy Ombudsman's office, he finds it very hard to justify the power costs here, even whilst he is in a sense administering them or at least trying to keep them fair.

I know someone who works in AGL ... more specifically in the department setting prices.

TBH,

It's not their fault, S.A. power has been a disaster power-wise for decades....

Privatisation means private companies just buy state assets, raise prices, make money and run the equipment into the ground until it's broken.

Telecom Australia -> Telstra was a 10000000% improvement

So was CommBank.

I can't honestly think of any other recent federal divestments. Qantas? It's better too...

Any others?

Why are you limiting yourself to federal assets?

But in the federal sphere, you can probably include some airports.

Heh,

I do wonder how long you experienced pre-privatisation Telstra for Leo.

It was a Curate's egg I grant you, but the Labs did great work and at least the network was properly maintained.

Cheers
