Aged care and government collude to hide information about nursing homes from customers and potential customers. Want to know the staffing levels at an aged care home? Nope, they don't have to tell you.

Don't worry, there's a lot of Labor 'mates' involved in this as well.

No, indeed they do not.

Mostly because of my mother's ongoing refusal to be moved to a home, which did put a lot of stress on the family, we had rather a lot of time to find her the best home in the area. I do think that we found a very good one but in the end she actually spent less than a week there because over a two week period they had to call an ambulance three times because they could not cope with her condition.

Even now that makes me wonder why they took her and even more how the hell we coped with her.

I guess the former is simple, money. But upon reflection I really have no idea how in hell we, and with no false modesty mostly me, which my family roundly agree on, were able to cope.

If I had it to do over again I doubt I would do it, but someone had pull some of the load off my sister and for various reasons that had nothing to do with not wanting to I was the only one that had a chance to do it. Frankly and not choke her, she really was impossible to deal with in the last weeks but somehow I saw it through.

I guess sometimes you do what you have to do. My family has been very close, in some odd way, that I'm sure was incidental she brought us closer in her passing.

But, geezus it was hard work.

As just one example, she decided she wanted a Shepherd's Pie one night so I made one. It wasn't good enough, she wanted potato with it. When I pointed out that a Shepherd's Pie has a potato topping she went into a rage, refused to talk to me, refused to eat, called my sister, who had only gotten home shortly before and wanted to be taken away from here !

My sister came down, took her out for an hour or so, calmed her down, she came home and ate her pie.

It was about then that she went from feisty to impossible.

Ah well, we made it through, but God only knows what she would have been like in a home if she had have survived long.

She could be impossible, and highly manipulative - she was already getting her allies in the home.

Mothers, you have to love them, there are times that you do not have to like them...

Cheers

🙂

Unfortunately or otherwise the only time my mother was "doped up" was in her last few hours with pain relief.

Did it ease her passing ?

I think so, but when her death certificate arrived even my sister and I who took her to a lot of doctor appointments (my sister far more than me over several years) were a bit stunned at how many life threatening illnesses she had.

In the end they listed pneumonia as what primarily ended her life but it was a race.

Cheers

So supposedly money's too tight to raise Newstart, but not so tight the filth can't see their way to slinging $10 fucking k per person per year to their dodgy corporate mates running the cashless welfare card scam. Let's roll it out to every poor bastard on Newstart!

The cashless welfare card is administered by a company ... controlled by the LNP.

So is it climate change or the way Australian Gov. ( over the last several decades ) operates that is responsible for our bushfires ?

And now that the summer rains have started, who's fault is that ?

much of both

until cotton and rice get off the wide brown land, we're squandering resources

and covering irrigation channels would be clever

Climate change has done the damage, the govt is criticized for doing nothing about climate change (actively making our emissions worse, even) AND for not having adequately supported emergency services AND for a complete lack of preparation.

Which part of that do you not follow or disagree with?

That both cotton and rice use incredibly large amounts of water for the amount of product returned.

i realise its about water, what i dont know is the relative assumed value of that "amount of product" within the context of our GDP and its degree of expendability in our economy.

How would any Gov. been prepared for this time ? My major beef with it was that both the PM and the top NSW Firie both chose the summer holidays to absent themselves. I mean Aus. summer is fire season , it's our life. And given the season had started ahead of time it was even more of a fucking stupid thing for both the PM and the NSW dude to do.

in the presence of climate change sensible countermeasures need to be taken that extend beyond mere backburning which is only possible during shrinking windows of time due to the deteriorating conditions.  SloMo actually meeting with Greg Mullins would be a start.

largely unregulated water intensive crops at the headwater of the national river system is more than stupid

the fact that the squandered resources aren't even nationalised assets is criminal

it's not like it's an australian income for the use of land

Probably explains why the PM didn't meet with him though, being the former head and all ... Still he didn't and couldn't meet with the current one cos they were both too busy working out their holiday itineraries

so you allow that regulation and public ownership may be better solutions than your previous hyperbolic take?

Well, we could use that water to increase the population 100 fold..........................don't worry about feeding them..............I'm sure the scientists will come up with something.........

............and Greg 'The Grub' Mullins is a publicity seeking stooge.

NSW residents are being treated to daily reminders of the depth of stupidity of this argument.

The Obeids and other Labor luminaries have been in the papers over their public-private swindling all week.

Lol, the fact that Labor is bad somehow means the LNP isn't utterly fucking terrible. Like I said, pigs fucken arse.

And like I said, the argument that Labor is worse is currently being held up for all to see the truth of, in NSW.

That is not to say Libs aren't worse next week or last week.

That is to say that if you're making a value judgement about which party is worse the question I'd ask is what are you judging on and what time frame?

Who are all the scum mentioned in that article?

See, this is why you shouldn't post shit.

I actually know a little bit about politics.

And when you talk "Quid Pro Quo" where Trump is accused in a partisan impeachment trial of doing an impeachable action (trying to cause legal damage to an electoral opponent), to the be then followed by a Senate trial where FOUR Democrat/Independent presidential electoral opponents judge him as part of a party which has been trying to impeach him from before he was President... that's also not looking pretty.

And then there's the hilarious 4th paragraph where Monbiot tries to make out Lula to be a saint.

By Lawd Jaysus, that shit is laughable.

In solid socialist fashion, Lula became filthy rich by stealing from the poor of Brazil and using his public position to enrich himself - awarding tenders and contracts to mates for kickbacks.
