Lol, the fact that Labor is bad somehow means the LNP isn't utterly fucking terrible. Like I said, pigs fucken arse.

And like I said, the argument that Labor is worse is currently being held up for all to see the truth of, in NSW.

That is not to say Libs aren't worse next week or last week.

That is to say that if you're making a value judgement about which party is worse the question I'd ask is what are you judging on and what time frame?

Who are all the scum mentioned in that article?

See, this is why you shouldn't post shit.

I actually know a little bit about politics.

And when you talk "Quid Pro Quo" where Trump is accused in a partisan impeachment trial of doing an impeachable action (trying to cause legal damage to an electoral opponent), to the be then followed by a Senate trial where FOUR Democrat/Independent presidential electoral opponents judge him as part of a party which has been trying to impeach him from before he was President... that's also not looking pretty.

And then there's the hilarious 4th paragraph where Monbiot tries to make out Lula to be a saint.

By Lawd Jaysus, that shit is laughable.

In solid socialist fashion, Lula became filthy rich by stealing from the poor of Brazil and using his public position to enrich himself - awarding tenders and contracts to mates for kickbacks.

Be real.

The reality is the Dems did not want to impeach but Trump's actions were such that enough of them believed that if they were to honor their oath they had to, even knowing the high probability his party, if you can call it that, would vote along party lines.

One Republican, whose religion I happen to dislike, had the honesty to vote his belief, Mitt Romney.

I don't even like his politics but he behaved as a man of honor. The other Republicans are just gutter-trash and if America wakes up to their dishonesty they will not be re-elected.

Unfortunately sections of America are locked into some odd belief system that Trump is actually good for them when in fact he is a stumbling disaster whose actions will catch up with him and others will have to attempt to rectify.

If Trump is the best America can present then the time of America as a world leader is over.

Cheers

well, that doesn't sound like anyone in politics here, does it ?

wait, rhetorical question

certainly i'd start with eddie obeid to show my non-patisan approach, but as joni sang, "i've looked at life from both sides now" and i reckon there's plenty of dodgy scum on both sides of the cross benches in every house in the country

America didn’t get to world leader by playing by constrained rules of the post-war world 🙂

They got to world leader by being last-man-standing in decent shape homeland-wise after WW2 and uppercutting allies and foes economically through rebuilding them with loans and using relatively unaffected industrial capacity to force their products and services everywhere.

I'd never denigrate the Marshall plan but it could have included the UK, who bore a LOT of damage. But that is by-the-by now.

America triumphed In WWII primarily because of geography, they were immune to attack on their mainland whilst their enormous industrial might could securely build.

Germany fortunately had no such luxury.

That’s the point. America became a superpower by luck of geography, the fact that she was built by slaves, that it has excellent internal mass transport in the form of rivers and by the fact that America is ready to dick anyone.

America didn’t become great by playing by “post-WW2 order” rules. It became great by playing by older Trump rules - just with less crass and more style.

And before you ask which rules are those - the answer is there are no rules for America except those which it wishes to impose on itself.

you know @Kimmo everyone knows B  J Bishop is a sleazy money grubbing, elite scuzball,  that's been her calling card since forever, IMO.  Why the guardian is sooo tardy with this info I have noooo idea. Maybe it's a slow news day for them

Her uni appointment has been known for months ffs ... her hypocrisy is legendary

what you should be thankful for is that her Liberal peers left her for dead when Malcy was undone . Ohhhh, would she have been your preffered choice of PM over Slowmo ? ( thanks @@~thehung )

It's just an opinion piece. Nothing to get your knickers in a knot over. The 24hour news cycle is always hard to fill with new content.

Also, not sure what B Bishop has to do with this article starting with J Bishop and going on to other members.

B Bishop I'd agree with you. J Bishop, well I always wondered if she was a better person away from politics. I thought she often sounded like the thing she was saying was not what she actually thought.

I guess lawyers do not always pick their clients but Hardy Plank really was somewhat of a disaster to say the least.

In person Julia Bishop is actually very nice, like most politicians she will speak to most anyone - we used to shop at the same supermarket 🙂

cheers

Actually I rarely see politicians for some reason but Julia was quite often around.  I did used to sponsor the Adelaide Dance Company (ADT) whose patron was Don Dunstan so saw him a few times but that was years ago.

Cheers
