NEW FORUM ISSUES HERE PLEASE (Atomic v.π)

Recommended Posts

I don't see any RTMs from you or anyone else.

I just ignore 'em and move on. I save my RTMs for repeat offenders.

Yeah, codecreeper. We DO actually look at RTMs and action those we think need it. :)

If you see something you think is dodgy and we don't know about it, a quick RTM can help.

We are looking at the one post wonders, and editing out any "helpful" links. Spam has dropped off since we started doing that and it seems to be working. So we are aware, but it's easy to miss a thread or two.

I view the forums using the 'view new content' method. So I see - if I'm at home/online/awake/have the spare time - pretty much all new activity on the forum. I don't read it all if it doesn't look interesting, but I see a lot across the entire forum.

Even still, RTM stuff, especially if it's been there for more than a few hours.

Well, OK. Don't say you didn't ask for it! ;)

Meh. Sif Nich has anything better to do with his time. :P

It's Nich who picks up all the underwear lying around the mod cave, and generally sorts out the washing up that has grown the more serious mould (you know - the kind that looks like it's about to become sentient). :D

So... that big banner announcement at the top of the green room regarding passwords....

When did that happen? There's no date reference on the announcement at all from what i can see... Wouldn't mind knowing when my password was compromised.

Ancient news, man. Far as I can figure, they leave it up for the peeps who drop in after a decade.

So... You. ;)

Exactly! So a date would be *bloody* useful.

Bit of a (massive) oversight, IMO.

Ignoring the fact that an email should have been sent out to all users affected.

We have no evidence any passwords were actually compromised, so it was more a "just in case" thing.

User apx won't be gracing us with any more posts until he creates another account.

Also the crap has been cleaned out. :)

Still trying to get a Avatar ,not sure if their is anyway to put image on these forums.

I don't know how often you need to be told this: this site WILL NOT TAKE UPLOADS! Despite saying it will. Get yourself an image-host (like imgur.com), upload your picture there, and use the URL on your profile.

Oh, and shrink that monstrosity to something reasonable.

I'm not sure how long this has been happening, I can't paste text into any Reply fields when replying to a forums thread here?

Is this by design? And can it be adjusted in some user setting?

Haven't tested it with many diff browsers on multiple machines, but I find it annoying.

The forum software has the WYSIWYG system, can toggle it with the power button top left of the reply window toolbar.

It can be annoying in that it gets it's knackers in a knot and does unwanted things like including your reply inside the quote, and not letting you trim quoted text very well.

Not sure if it needs Javasript, that might be another source of problems.

You also have to be in the right "context" ie the I-bar cursor should be active in the window otherwise the browser just thinks you're wanting action based on the entire window object.

The forum uses a javascript rich text editing/reply field. There have been issues with some browsers, eg some versions of IE.

As Rybags mentioned, the top left icon in the display fields disables this JS and dumps you back onto a legacy version that does plaintext.

Assuming this is the issue you're having, anyway.

Personally, I find myself using the plaintext version a lot more than the fancy version, just because it's a helluva lot easier to format things properly - especially multiply-nested quotes.

yeah, i wrestled with this shit for the longest time before i realised! it behaves differently depending on whether you use backspace vs delete when carriage returns/(linefeeds?) are selected.

also, ive noticed when starting a reply i can only right-click to paste if the mouse pointer is on the same line as the I-bar.
