Another plane missing

Recommended Posts

Apparently an Air Asia flight from Indonesia to Singapore has lost contact with ATC. Doesn't look like it's hit mainstream news yet

They're really not having much luck are they?

Edit: No reports of Australians on board. Doubt local news are going to give much of a shit.

Now on ABC and SMH.

Air Asia have confirmed on their facebook and SAR operations have begun.

Cybes. Not sure the difference but they can't contact it and it's vanished from ATC. Given the amount of fuel they carry, by now it's either landed somewhere else or crashed

Fuck it. From now on I'm walking to my overseas holidays.

An airliner loss is a big population dip at once, but they're not that frequent. You could lose one a week and not equal the road toll.

I know. I'm being morbidly humorous :)

Sorry. Just that an awful lot of people do have exactly that attitude. I am not an kind of good at math, but to me that much is obvious - on par with "if you had a reasonable chance of winning, nobody would run casinos." And yet there are many many gamblers.

Seems like a heavy tropical storm was in its path ,the pilot radioed for permission to deviate his course. After this the plane went missing.

It's the top story in the biggest newspaper here in Norway.

Real shame.

162 people. This is really bad.

Seems the pilot asked to go up to 38,000 feet to fly over a bad storm.

Do you mean nationwide?. The average roadtoll in Victoria is 273 people. Nationwide last year was just over 1000 people. So one plane crash a week with 162 people on board would be around 8000 people dead a year. Beating the national roadtoll in Australia by 7000 people.

There was about 300 people on the plane that got shot down which is more people than have died in a single year in victoria alone.

According to reports he didn't ask to deviate, in that air space I can well understand , it's crowded, he asked to climb, to 38,000. I'm going entirely on the media, but, that's an ok altitude for the cabin of any Airbus, just might be a bit of a chore bringing it down on what was a relatively short sector, but, ok...

Just how you vanish a few minutes later, in that area - that is somewhat unusual.

Very, very strange, reserving any real thoughts for now.

Cheers

I didn't state a limit, did I? ie: it's a global figure.

Heh,

There is however a certain amount of truth that a lot of pilots in Asia do perhaps rely on autopilot a little too much. I really don't see how it factors in this time though, the odds are the pilot was quite simply overwhelmed by weather.

What is surprising is that in this day and age that can happen, it's been a very long time since an airliner has been chewed up by a storm.

Cheers

Reading the papers this morning apparently their was 3-4 planes in the corridor all had same problems with the Heavy Weather ,but they still all landed safely. They still wondering why this flight has disappeared or crashed. They can see floating in the ocean to where it was last sighted and radioed in.

Could a radical islam group be tampering with these aircraft in Indonesia.

No, the Radical Islam group actually created the hurricane using their weather machine powered by the souls of ten of the gayest people ever.

An islamic weather control machine? Please. Everyone knows that's what the chemtrails are for: Weather control and geoengineering! And those are controlled by the Illuminati!!!

Of course, since the Illuminati are an offshoot of the Templars, that makes this action a hidden religious war of deep ancient Christians vs radical fundamentalist Muslims. As if deal with the Illuminati wasn't daunting enough... Who wants to get in the middle of that mess?

They seem to think they have found a plane door and an emergency slide.

That seems to indicate that they may have pulled off an emergency landing and at least got the door open and inflated the slide.

If they had time to use it is another question. Maybe the plane sunk before they could get out or maybe they got out and drowned waiting for help.

Seems they had a fighting chance though.

Now we need the "Black Box".
