3G and 4G

Recommended Posts

I have an option to go to 4G.

Using TPG, my plan is $17 per month with $500 worth of free calls and 1Gig of data.

This plan is 3G only. I know 4G is faster with data speeds.

My question - is coverage better with 4g or the same as 3G ?

Likely better, unless TPG go weird and prevent your 4G device from dropping back to the 3G network for some reason.

Rather depends on where you intend to use it, no? But as GL intimated, it'll drop back to 3G automatically if 4G is unavailable in the area.

I'd be more concerned with the phone carrier's coverage than the type of connection, tbh.

Availability of 4G is a drop in the ocean compared to 3G.

Why a phone would stop working if a 4G cell isn't available is a mystery to me.

I'm with TPG as well - in most cases you'll be connected to an Optus cell, occasionally a Vodafone one (and that's where trouble often arises).
