Corrupted DBF file

Recommended Posts

I have a problem where dbf files will show an incredibly large (not to mention completely impossible) size. Currently, the size reported if I do a listing is over 3 gig. This is obviously wrong since it is stored on a 1gig drive. Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix it?

Use a bigger drive. 1 Gig is miniscule, even for a flashdrive.

If that doesn't work, then just wait for the guy that'll show up in a couple of hours with a shiny new account and post links to the DataNumen or RepairToolbox websites, and probably using a different font for his posts than most of us use.

Ultimate solution is directed to severe corruption in .dbf files https://onlinefilerepair.com/en/dbf-repair-online.html

It is not necessary to rebuild a corrupt database. All corrupt databases can fixed in less than one minute.

The solution is :

Open database to main screen

Copy the database but only one record(just pick a not recent record number at random; include "all", I usually name this database "FixMMDD" (( month Day))

Open original database to mainscreen and append the FIXMMDD.dbf.

You're done.

Occassionally you may have to update indexes. Very rarely are any records lost and when it happens those few records are clearly garbled.

I've been doing this for three years with no problems.

If you have fields that increment you'll have to adjust that for your last valid value.

What should I do about my pesky butt-hair that pokes out the bottom of my Daisy Dukes?
