Help fredz choose a new ssd

Recommended Posts

Howdy there internet peoples!
So i've just gotten home from a weeks work away in melbourne, and my ssd's died :(
Damnit.

So, is there any trusted, recentish hardware roundups in the area?

or reviews of the current models?

Thanks!

Tom's HW has an article from this year http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-recommendation-benchmark,3269.html

Though it seems to be more like "Sandisk vs a couple of the others".

Other sites do plenty of SSD reviews like Guru3D http://www.guru3d.com/articles-categories/memory-%28ddr2|ddr3%29-and-storage-%28hdd|ssd%29.html

Anandtech http://anandtech.com/tag/ssd

Probably plenty more. I remember a year or so ago there being some issue with certain onboard controllers having performance issues which in some cases firmware fixes would help with.

As for what's hot or not ATM, no idea. These days my keeping up with what's new is usually on a need to know basis, ie when I want to upgrade something I'll do a bit of research.

The most reliable brand I've probably seen is Intel, but YMMV. It's why I've consistently bought them after having some OCZ's die a number of years back.

currently have Samsung SSDs in all our PCs at the moment. Like Nich I had a few OCZs which also died so I moved away from them.
