Hello again everyone! Man it's been a long time, and like so many of you I've been busy as heck (in a good way usually).
So in 10 years ago I had recently moved to Canberra to really / properly start my Career in IT. I'm still here now and after moving from various places to other places and specialising as a SQL Server DBA, I can honestly say it was one of the best moves I'd ever done. Work / Career is going quite well and I absolutely love it here :)
I'd also moved down with my then Girlfriend, now Wife. We have two beautiful children together, the latest addition is only 9 months old and boy is she a handful! Being a Father was one of the main reasons I stood down from Modding on Atomic. I loved doing that job but I realised it needed special attention and I knew my time would be split between that and being a good Daddy. I have no regretted that decision either and I left on, what I felt, was a good note.
Outside of work I really started following my hobby in gaming Journalism. I've had articles on various sites (Kotaku, Atomicmpc, Blackpanel) but I've mainly stuck with the crew at Player2.net.au - It's great to work along side other passionate people who just love the whole scene. I get to write about eSports regularly and most recently I finally pulled my finger out and did my first video review / overview for a show I had an idea for. For a first attempt it turned out just as I'd hoped, of course there are many things to fix up and make better for the next ones naturally, feel free to check it out here:
But most importantly, I still keep in touch with so many Atomicans. Atomic has and always will hold a special place in my heart and I take it for granted sometimes, just how impact it's had on me socially and in life. I know the wonder years are behind us, but it's still here ... and that's what's most important :)
Good work on bringing this to my attention guys, and a big special hello to Twinny ;) keep being you Sir!
- Gharph

and already I seem to have messed up the format here ... ergh well done me

2 geckos,

I have about 50 of those fuckers, if you mean the little asian ones. All over my walls there piss is (until I scrub it off). At least it helps keep the huntsman spiders in check (or is the other way round)

In the last ten years, I've moved to Canberra and got myself a pubic service job. I'm now an identity analyst in the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. I spent a year and a half travelling the country to the immigration detention centres interviewing asylum seekers.

I've also bought my own shack in the bush, ~3,500 square metres of paradise with a 90,000 litre rainwater tank and a one bedroom home. I'm hoping to retire there before I'm 50. I have a small orchard of espaliered applle trees. After 2.5 years in the shack, I decided to bit the bullet and go off grid for electricity. The only outside connection I have there now is satellite Internet. I've got about 200 videos on YouTube documenting my journey toward a more sustainable life and I'm actually getting money from YouTube on a monthly basis these days. Not a lot, but enough to pay a bill or two.

I'm also a beekeeper with eight, soon to be eleven hives. Oh yeah...I'm also a grandfather of two beautiful little girls.

This is likely to be short and sweet because despite all the time that has passed, I'm still fifty shades of arsehole.

Enjoy, Mick,
1shot.

I would think you'd have asked about the pubic service job.

Oh yeah...I'm also admin on a number of American Facebook homesteading groups, one of which has about 8,000 members. My arseholeness gets to REALLY shine through there.

Eveln...The pubic wasn't a typo. :p

Lol. By the end I topped the scales over 140kgs. I was producing the hormone grehlin at a rate over 8 times normal (grehlin is the hormone that makes you feel hungry). And my stomach was only absorbing about 20% of the nutrients it needed. I was starving hungry, overeating and malnourished. Go figure. :p

Stupid stomach.

But all fixed now. :D

Nice to see you back. If you keep quiet and don't stir the pot, I won't remember who you are. :p

I knew I liked you for a reason. I'll stick around but not much. I've largely moved on from forums these days, although I'm still active on OCAU. Facebook and its groups are where it's at for me.

Glad to see you're healthy(er). You must TRULY be a hottie now.
