wonder if it still only hits ~2070mhz like all the others

not saying 2070mhz is low just that these more expensive cards often dont seem to make the difference we would like

but at least the vrm shouldnt get to hot and burn out :)

Yea you would think it would at least not fluctuate on the core as much and be more stable clock...

I contacted Zotac today and asked them about the phases for there custom 1070 range. I hope they write back but Im sure they are swamped with inquiries right now.

I saw this too, pretty interesting with integrated 1070 on the MB:

That's pretty insane if true, for the price. Where is the 1060 going to fit in if those are true.... Cant give too much performance or it will steal 1070 buyers and needs to compete with 480 with both price/performance... But man it is exciting to see die shrink from both camps.

Edit: seeing some more with around 3200 in FireStrike.

One video (I can't read) is 3500

Edit: Theres more popping up, this has RX470 and crossfire too:

Well I started to look pretty aggressively for non Founder Edition 1070 version 3-4 days ago since Im without a card currently.... There is no stock really anywhere and kinda glad since now I think Im going to have to wait for the RX480 reviews because the "benchmarks" so far look to nice for the price. Most are showing around 390x to 980 type of performance, which will not be huge from my OC 970 but want to play with something new. Also, dx12 performance might be better on the red team.

I think supply to Australia will be limited for nVidia and AMD just to jack up the local prices by restricting supply.

Many RX 480 graphics cards from AMD’s Add-In-Board partners will be capable of ~1.4Ghz boost clocks after some very basic overclocking. The cards can be pushed beyond that with voltage adjustments. The “Beast Mode” RX 480 $299 cards that we had talked about two days ago will come with pretty hefty factory overclocks right out of the box and some will be able to hit 1.5Ghz+ on air after some over-volting and fine tuning.

edit just gave firestrike ultra a run with the 290@1200 and the score was 2986

apparently there is confirmation of specs

Polaris 10 XT
RX 480
Core frequency 1288MHz
Stream processing units 2304
GDDR5 8G
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Frequency 8GHz

type rx 480 into staticice and you get

rx 480 8g $259 at megabuy but click the link and you get $480.58

hmm

$229-259 is the expected us$ price for the 8g model

i do hope we dont get ripped with a ~$500 starting price for reference models then more for non reference

they should only be ~$350

Thanks to brexit, I doubt prices will be low for us now

According to economists, the damage is already recovering. No doubt we'll still have some effects, but it shouldn't be as bad as you might think.

leaked magazine review suggesting it will performance close to a gtx970 oc model; at 1300mhz which is near reference gtx980 performance in some things

Radeon-RX-480-CD-Action-1.jpg

Radeon-RX-480-CD-Action-2.jpg

if au launch price is $400-500 then this is nothing special

if its $300-400 then thats another story

few stores now have stock

pccg

rx 480 4g $319 sold out

rx 480 8g $379-449

reviews are out its performance is a bit hit and miss vs older amd and nvidia cards

perfrel_1920_1080.pngperfrel_2560_1440.pngperfrel_3840_2160.png

looks like it has higher idle and average power use than i would like but it stops there and doesnt go any higher

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/RX_480/22.html

Overclocking_01.png

there is a few games where it shines amongst the many where it fails it kinda reminds me of the 285 in this way as it was another cut down card with tweaked shaders from memory

its a little concerning that there is reports of overclocks lower than this adding ~100w to the power use

http://www.techspot.com/review/1198-amd-radeon-rx-480/page7.html

it will be interesting to see what custom cooled cards can do and if they can drop power use through lower temps or if there power use will be through the roof due to higher oc

Sounds like RX480 is bit underwhelming really.

Almost equal to a 980, and under US$200? I wouldn't call that underwhelming.

By the time nVidia get their shit to that pricepoint, AMD stuff should be flying.

For the price of the RX 480 4gb model, I would be up $20 from selling my 970.... Basically, I would get a 20 bucks for getting a new card. For an extra 20 out of my pocket, I can get 8gb while still having 5% performance boost in general for 1080p on either version... But, I wont buy one since the reference cooler is crap and will wait for the extra pwr and coolers from 3rd party.

To me, being able to sell the old card and get a new one at near break even, is amazing. The RX 480 is really the only card you could recommend at this price point, unless they drop the prices on all other older cards or to near the 480 price levels. Even if you could get a 970 at 200, that would still be a 3.5g card with less performance but the 970 is still selling higher than the 8gb 480.

On the power issue for the 480:

For those who can't be bothered watching (you really should): It was at 4K, where the card is getting under 10fps, so nobody in their right mind would do that for long; and there have been quite a few other cards (including many overclocked cards) in the past that have done much much more egregious things, yet nobody's mobo has died because of it.

In case you were wondering what someone other than Adored had to say on the matter:

More technical, more in depth, and much less thick accent. ;)
