Need some Help on choosing a Desktop system

Recommended Posts

What cheap backup are you getting from a DVDRW? Anything small enough to fit on a DVD is small enough to put in the cloud. Anything bigger than one DVD goes into the cloud too, or onto a HDD or flash drive.

If you want a 1TB HDD just for backups, a black is a waste.

I'd be going - small SSD for system drive, 120 - 250 Gig. Games/general storage drive 2-3 TB.

External backup/archive 2-3 TB.

They are Auspc prices ,only place i use for purchases as they include Overnight shipping in costs.

The Asus and Asrock prices are almost the same price.

As for DVDRW need to keep for DVD backups i have done and mag disks and may be play a DVD.

Seems strange a system without a HDD ,maybe i can better SSD like Samsung 850 EVO pro then.

I dropped the 32gb Ram and went back to 16gb its only $132 ,so cheap.

All up about $2500. Remember that includes Overnight shipping costs.

So you're paying, for example, $30 extra, to have a $20 DVD drive delivered overnight.

Do you really NEED it by tomorrow?! Thats fucking robbery!

I see where you are coming from but its included in the price from AusPC .

I do not want to get aggro but i think i have brought this down to what you guys want. It seems cheaper but i am not changing suppliers as AusPC always deliver on time. So if the DVD is problem how i am i going to watch DVD's and make use of my DVD backups?

Whether i buy it from AusPC or anywhere else it will cost $20 in delivery costs to get it too Adelaide. Whether is be Overnight or in regular postal costs.

You haven't really brought it down all the way,

you're still spending multiple hundreds more in lots of places, no matter what we advise.

But its your money, you clearly have a lot more of it than we do.

We're all about best performance at lowest price point; you're clearly about "wow factor".

Not that there is anything wrong with that, when you have the spare cash.

I do understand where "I wasted money on this, because now I can show you that I'm better!" comes from; you're just hitting resistance because its not how most of us think.

Go ahead and order then, we're quite obviously at an impass where you "already know" what you want, yet ask us "what should I buy".

Riddle me this; What does your

Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 3 Z170 DDR4 motherboard $277

Have over my

Asus B150M-K $105

That you're going to use?

That's just one example.

There's no anger here, its just frustrating watching someone you're trying to help ignore 'good advice' because they know better.

If you know better, why ask?

Anyway, order it already, so it can be done with.

In regards to your choice of 'store'....

I dealt with auspcmarket once.

I made a complaint to fair trading.

Fought with them for about a month.

provided proof to the fair trading ombudsman of "postage pirating"

Got swore at by their support staff.

Forced my credit card payment back.

Then promised to never go back.

But each to their own,

I don't support crooks.

$30 to ship a DVD drive, and that's just ONE part.

AusPC changed management over two years ago ,btw. They seem a lot better to talk too.

I am not resisting anything its just i cannot see those parts on AusPC list.

I usually check youtubes for reviews on products and see what they saying about boards. Not being a smartarse as i am only listening to what others say.

Also i follow what builds are mentioned in PCTA.

I just hate ASUS boards something about them ,Gigabyte boards i have always used.

What you'll have is a bit of pose value that'll probably last about 18 months.

Not a great deal better than a budget build you could probably do for as much as several hundred less.

FUTU does!

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gigabyte-GA-B150M-D3H-DDR3-Intel-LGA1151-mATX-Motherboard-D-Sub-DVI-HDMI-USB3-/231125302856?hash=item35d0243e48:g:gOEAAOSwKtlWnbzf

Can't ask for a more reputable company than that.

Ebay & woolworths risked their reputation on them! I've used them countless times.

He wants included shipping, FAST shipping, reputable store, and they beat APCM prices by quite a bit.

FUTU are a nice reliable middle ground shop, which you can collect from woolworths! lol

OK, I'm out.

No one said a fucking single negative word about you, and you come back like that?

Enjoy your shit build, spend your 3 grand.

Must be awesome to have so much spare cash and wave it in peoples faces.

My conscience is clear, I tried to help.

You did and i thank you for that.

Whether i have the spare cash or not i asked the advice and you gave a solid reason. But again i said i only deal with AUSPC and you tried to push me into changing suppliers. That is where i drew the line.

So much aggro in your reply when i only asked to back off renders my question of being bullied to be true.

No MS i am not aggro at you just confused by your comments ,but if you feel that way then so be it.

Is there no umart or msy in Adelaide?

You're literally paying a premium to buy from a single shop and ship it half way across the country. In a single day.

At $500 I'd be surprised if you can't just get someone to build it locally for cheaper.

MSY is everywhere but parts go so fast with not many Hardware suppliers in SA.

close to a $500 premium

on what?

well if like you say they dont have that mb thats $150 premium your paying on one part to get it from auspcmarket

with that included the post on each and every other item would add up to almost $500 total at a quick glance vs say going into msy in adelaide and getting it there

postage may be a price you have to pay but it may only be $30-100 from another store

maybe consider taking a look at https://allneeds.com.au

they are a popular store in sa that will express post it to you

They seem lineball with MSY with the HDDs and CPUs I compared but higher on the Ram.

But the thing is, we're only just starting to get stung due to the lower $$$ - I've got pricelists going back to September last year so can see trends. Though that said, natural price decline of some stuff occurs anyway not to mention general fluctuations of some components esp Ram.
