Random Hard restarts windows 10

Recommended Posts

I am having all kinds of issues with my OC and NON OC stock 2500K restarting without warning while playing GTA 5 and Shadow Warrior 2

I made a post on whirlpool for some advice and am working through it but so far I am still having the same bloody issue.

I hate to be a punk and link to another forum post but I don't feel like writing all the guff out yet again. Would anyone have any ideas on WTH might be going on?

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2575085

Cheers.

I skim read the other thread.

White background = hard for me to read on whingepool. Besides they're a bunch of wankers.

Anyway, can you crash it doing any other stress tests?

3d MARK?

Prime95?

FurMark?

If its a PSU you should be able to repeat it.

You can also eliminate windows as a cause too, live boot an Ubuntu CD, and run furmark or GPU test:

If it wont crash doing these things, I'd instantly assume a Direct X problem.

This is also a common problem with sound enhancements. Open your sound device properties, and tick "Disable all enhancements" (or something to that effect)

Apparently he can run those no probs, it's only when he tries GTA 5 (and another game) that the problem kicks in.

I'd suggest check the various voltages and get them logged if possible.

Don't necessarily rely on an Auto setting in the Bios to maintain a given setting. Also check if there's a setting that enabled VDroop compensation.

And also the obvious one, check if any Bios updates are available for your board.

Direct X issue then, or sound enhancements.

Maybe an issue with recent 1607 Windows 10 version and those games ???

Or maybe he needs to load a more recent nVidia driver.
