Camsie 1 Posted December 1, 2016 Probably the most noob question ever, but here goes: A Displayport 1.1 adapter should have no problems running off a Displayport 1.4 graphics card, right? It's a backwards-compatible standard as I understand it?
Rybags 1,159 Posted December 1, 2016 Should be fine I would think. Generally if the sending device is "older" then the monitor will likely not have all resolutions/features usable or at reduced functionality. If the monitor uses an older interface type then generally it's limitations will reflect that too, so higher res/refresh modes won't be possible.
Jeruselem 788 Posted December 1, 2016 Yes. DP 1.4 has far more bandwidth than 1.0/1.1 - 32.4 Gbit/s compared to 8.64 Gbit/s. You're not running 4K or 8K HD by the sounds of it so you'll be OK.
