vidgeek897 0 Posted March 10, 2017 Hi guys, we're using sdi over fiber extenders, we decided to deploy our project to internet, how can I convert optical sdi signal directly to ip with passive splitter? Maybe cisco swithes with SFP module and some kind of preprocessor, which will convert optical sdi to optical ethernet?
Cybes 1,104 Posted March 11, 2017 Ok, now I have to admit to being old. a) "SDI" to me initially equalled Strategic Defense Initiative ("Star Wars" ICBM anti-missile program Reagan wanted); and b) I had no idea what the current meaning of the acronym was without googling. Jeruselem 637 Posted March 11, 2017 Never heard of SDI, as I never deal with coaxial cable other than tv antenna cable.
tastywheat 438 Posted March 13, 2017 I'm not familiar with any H.264/265 converters that will directly accept an optical HD-SDI input. Could you use a passive splitter like an ETS PV991 on the coax connection, and then something like an Oupree OPR-NH100PS for encoding?
