mygov seems to be down - at least in W.A.

Being all and I mean all, of the government phone lines are coming back "busy" I assume it is not just me...

I really do not understand "Mygov" we built networks and distributed servers decades ago to provide resilience, now they want to stick it all under one URL.. really smart... not.

We are at the mercy of idiots...

Cheers

Its been a long time since I've worked public sector, but MyGov used to have about a 68% uptime.

Not bad for a "This is my server, don't look at it the wrong way!" sort of setup, but woeful for a business critical machine.

You'd think they'd at least be using the services of someone who lets them CONTINUE to control the infrastructure. Like Amazon.

Or even whats left of PIPE if they want to keep it internal to the country only.

Works here. Gladly my browser remembers the userid that otherwise has absolutely no connection or resemblence to any personal detail of me, or serial number of any card I've ever carried.

...That's the problem Ry, my details are saved as well, today it does not want to know me...

Sorted it out via interminable phone calls but essentially it is useless.

68% MS ? Geez, if I ran servers that bad I'd be kicked out the door, and deservedly so, 99.9 is what I aim for, and usually achieve it.

Why would they not have distributed servers for mygov, vs 10 different unique websites?

Every new minister for whatever he's called wants to make their stamp on history.. and the most achievable way for them is to rename their department.

It's not a department though - it's some stupid wet-dream that Joe Citizen can have a you-beaut one-stop online portal to every possible service they might want.

So at the back-end it becomes a third party interface to multiple departments with not much coordination among them, and requiring the target systems to have UI reworks so the whole thing looks roughly consistent.

MyGov is one giant bandaid which tried to connect the zillion government systems or look like it's connected ...
