What a joke

Look, that’s a fair position. I think the same of Obama.

Heh,

The media doesn't need to make up "fake news" about Trump, he does it to himself and it's not fake.

Serving burgers at the WH? Drinking diet Coke by the bucketful?  being pathological about TV remotes? Refusing to release his tax returns? denying unpalatable truth about his "romantic" affairs ? Providing no evidence beyond his utterly discredited word that there were no dealings with Russia? his disinclination to read his daily reports? The hours he spends watching television? His ignorance of the facts that make a mockery of his wall?

The list goes on but it is all documented either on camera or from witnesses whose validity cannot be discredited, including members of his own party.

I'm not particularly worried about him starting WWIII though, the checks and balances in the system will prevent him from that act of pique...

He's appalling in so many ways that words fail...

Cheers

Oh my god. Burgers in the WH. A bloke hogging the remote control.

The character of a man is important, I grant you. Except for the womanising, the above would be a description of my old man who also hogs the remote, has no understanding of “optics” and loves a burger or a bucket of kfc.

This is the hysteria. For years he was a cultural icon in America, mixing with political and Hollywood types.

Then he beats the odds and becomes President. Rapists and other sexual maladroits in Hollywood attack him. Racist leftist activists organise marches against his racism. The news media go for everything, including his ice cream eating habits. Some bullshit dossier gets released about how he likes getting pissed on in bed by russian hookers (the man’s a germaphobe). Hollywood types who live behind walls higher than the Mexico border, with armed security guards denounce his wall plans and racism, even as their industry has a shocking record of anything outside (WASP, Jewish or Will Smith) in titular roles.

Clearly he’s the psychopath.

And then there’s the goddamned wall.

People have really lost their collective shit on this one.

The claims are

1. Walls don’t work

2. Walls are racist.

In the first case - almost all the people making these claims publicly live behind walled estates with armed guards, security doors and alarms. If walls don’t work, why do they live behind them?

In the second case, you could make a 24hr reel of Democrats currently in Congress and the Senate passionately calling for a wall to stop sex, child and labour trafficking.

?

Not the fact of burgers in the WH, he used it to grandstand that the WH kitchen staff were affected by the shut-down and that his wife could have cooked if she was there - call me sexist but I doubt that  ?

Reportedly he can fly into a rage if ANYONE touches his TV remotes, he has several (of course) it apparently it's his germophobia.

Notice you seized on those but left the rest Leo ?

Regarding the wall, there are several learned articles on line pointing out how it is not feasible, at least not as he envisions it, but this will do for starters:

http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2016/ph240/pourshafeie2/

BTW, I thought Mexico were going to pay for it ? apparently not, the cost makes their GNP look inadequate.

Then there is the little matter of who owns the land it would be built on and would they give it up ? Previous attempts say no.

I guess he is down to an electric fence that any idiot could short out... ?

Utterly stupid idea, from the mind of a loud-mouthed reality star.

Yes I know Leo, walls elsewhere have sort of worked.

I tend to think of them as more a filter, the determined and most dangerous will get through.

Cheers

The EU just built a wall along the Syria/Turkey border. 828km, 3m High, 2m wide concrete with 120 concrete guard towers, sensors and patrol vehicles.

$672m US.

But yeah sure, if Turkey can do it, the USA can’t. The reasoning is obvious.

All those learned articles from PHD Physics students who have yet to move out of mum’s place are highly, highly believable.

Meanwhile, the fuckwit in chief continues to hold the country to ransom over his moronic signature 'policy'. Without any clue as to the consequences, as other GOP fuckwits ask why the 800,000 direct victims of this unprecedented tantrum can't just, like, borrow money or something, NBD.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jan/25/let-them-eat-cake-wealthy-republicans-play-down-severity-of-shutdown

Those turkeys are gonna get their arses handed to them so bad next election, if the democracy survives that long.

Fun fact, apparently during the shutdown, the Republicans twice voted to pay the workers their wages.

The Dems voted against.

10 foot wall Leo ? You could pole vault over that 🙂

Many people from many walks of life but especially design and construction have put up estimates on the wall's raw cost delivered, not including upkeep and patrols etc No one, except Trump, think it is even feasible in a real world but more importantly it is plain fucking stupid.

Here's a couple to illustrate since you think Stanford, one of the most significant universities in the U.S. if not the world is not a good enough source:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/12/23/based-trumps-detailed-diagram-his-slat-wall-we-did-some-advanced-mathematics/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.64fecf22e07a

https://www.viatechnik.com/blog/insane-math-behind-trump-wall/

No one says the U.S. could not do it, just it would be an enormous waste of money, be impractical and ineffective without huge on-going costs to patrol and monitor.

However, a "smart wall," mix of drones and sensors with patrols which already exist and doubtless backed up by satellite and even airborne surveillance, that would be far less expensive to implement and far more effective.

Trump however can't seem to think 21st century, seems to be stuck centuries back.

He's backed himself into a corner of his own making, he's going to lose, he's going to leave what credibility he has left in ragged tatters and if he had not already sowed the seeds of utter and complete loss at the next election he most certainly has with this shut-down. Hitting people in the wallet, not even comprehending the pain he has caused, affecting national security - he's fucked in the head, but we knew that already.

Cheers

Oh ?  I did not know that.

What reasoning could possibly be voted on not to pay people to work ? Is it that the partial shut down of gov. could be termed a "Clayton's Shut Down "

edit:

so the shut down is temporarily ended .

Fun fact, since the beginning, the democrats have surfaced bills that'd fund the closed government agencies for a few weeks, allowing the parties to keep exchanging blows without the expense to the public.

That's because Leo is being somewhat disingenuous Ev. The representatives in both houses both went crossbench with sequential votes but no clear  vote by the Dems against an ACCEPTABLE proposal from the WH ever happened.

"Temporary" probably means until next election, but you never expect Trump to admit failure now, would you ?

What’s unacceptable in the WH proposal?

There’s an unproven quote (that still fits with what we know of LBJ):

”I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for 200 years”

That was as he was signing a key piece of civil rights legislation.

You wanna know why the Dems would do this? Same reason they don’t want the wall despite the sex, drug, child trafficking, the gang crime, etc. Same reason Labor here wanted thousands of brown people to keep drowning as shark bait.

Trump NEVER took the funding for the wall off the table, the Dems have been blunt, not one dollar for a wall, funding for border protection yes, the wall no.

No one in the house seems to have said it outright but the initial funding is just the tip of an infinite iceberg.

Cheers

Either you fell on your head recently, or you're being intentionally more difficult than usual.  "Acceptable" in this instance does not have anything to do with you, me, Chris, or anyone other than the DNC.

One of the kooks ignoring the fact the midterms removed any lame excuse for a mandate someone who becomes president from a gerrymandered vote had in the first place...

You have walls in your unit/house? A fence? A door?

Which conveniently ignores the fact that in a non-gerrymandered popular vote, you still couldn’t draw a straight line through the United States in blue, in any direction.

The Democrats largely win only in cities. By demographic trends, in a first past the post system, the Dems could carry three or four states in 2050, and win the presidency.

This is why most democracies have a system to correct for demographic bias. Gerrymandering is bad, but the Republic wouldn’t last without some form of vote-weighing to prevent geographic imbalance.

FYI, most of the DNC, including the top two (Schumer, Pelosi) voted for a border fence/wall in 2006. A video of Schumer in a 2009 speech outdoes Trump in anti-immigration rhetoric.

The DNC finds the wall acceptable when it suits them.
