Apparently I'm not the only one.

The photographer who took the pic of Obama when Bin Laden was killed has gone on record as saying that it all looked very staged in Trump's case. He also noted, although it is not irrefutable evidence that the photograph show a time after five pm  whereas the raid began at more like 3pm. Those sort of raids do not tend to go on for hours, minutes would be more like it.

He's certainly right about it not being a photo that fills anyone with much confidence.

Simply put I don't know, I do find the timing suspicious, the pre tweet by Trump to be almost a set up and the fact that All US troops were supposed to be out of Syria or at least not actively engaged in anything other than leaving just seems odd.

Then you have the odd comment about him dying like a dog and then it transpires a dog was involved and was injured. If the suicide vest had enough power to kill the guy and three of his kids I'd have thought the dog would have been more than injured. It's also odd that they have not released the name of the dog saying it's "classified."

It' s shall  we say not exactly convincing the way the death of Bin Laden was and even that was doubted for a while because no body was ever presented. It only gained credence when the wreckage of the stealth chopper that did not make it was shown.

It all seems very pat but if al-Baghdadi really wants to embarrass Trump I guess he'll just show up in the next few days if it is all a fabrication. That fact alone tends to say it probably is true, although the Russians also reacted a bit skeptically.

As a final twist al-Baghdadi could do worse than to lie low for a while with the heat off him, if he happens to be smart enough to play along.

Some separate confirmation would be nice.

Cheers

Hard to know, I did not say it was anything conspiratorial but frankly in Trump's current situation nor much would surprise me.

I am far from alone both The Independent and The Guardian have so far raised queries.

He gloated over the death of al-Baghdadi, which frankly is not a good look, but what do we expect of Trump.

What I will say is that if the raid went on that long it was quite possibly because Trump, who does not trust his Intel people caught them on the hop when he pulled the plug just as this raid was about to go own.

Cheers

There's some footage from the Pentagon just now, the army dude with lots of medals on his chest says the dog is still "in theatre"  with his handler of course, so giving the name of the dog is a real NoNo ... thought your forces background might have made it obvious as to why no name is forth coming.

neither of them is known as sensible or balanced when reporting on anything Trump related.

If your reaction to Baghdadi being dispatched to fuck Virgil for all eternity is to attack Trump, stay off the web for a week or so.

I'd suggest I'm doing anything but, settle Gretel, i'm simply asking the question and as I noted I am not alone.

We'll see what if anything the next few days bring.

The dog not being identified is sensible. The dog’s name would identify the handler.

Why don't you just ask your mates in at the Pentagon for some details?

I mean, you're so intel it's not even funny.

My bad. Here I was thinking Pentagon is the epicentre of chrisg's life...but he got me there, all smoke and mirrors.

What, like the post of yours I quoted back there where you're defending Trump for not showing his tax returns and calling him a strong leader? How doesn't that qualify, I'm interested to know.

Heh.

Not been in the big house since 2001, January, and it was pretty much a social visit, or as social as it gets in that place.

I have no idea if Trump is trying a really big con, but I am very far from the only person querying the reality of this raid.

The conventional press is just parroting what the press releases are saying.

Perhaps the most telling problem with Trump's claim is that by his own words the troops dug out the remains and did a DNA match in like 15 minutes. From debris that if we are to believe the dramatic way Trump presented it would have included shreds of three of his children and, well, we do not know who else.

Typical fast DNA tests, in lab conditions take from 24 to 72 hours - google it.

He may be dead, not going to say he isn't but a lot here just makes no sense at all.

Oh, the withholding of the dogs name might just be paranoia, but some generic name which is typical with dogs, especially military dogs would NOT tie it to an SF handler whose name would not be know either.

It may well all be smoke and mirrors, but Trump lies so often that you have to query him if his lips are moving.

Cheers

It 's actually not THAT hard to go there, provided you aren't on some list - which I am not.

I just happened to be in Washington,  actually on my way back from Lotusphere  in Orlando , some old friends still worked there - I have no idea if any are still, so I visited is all.

You really do have a problem with anyone who does not live a normal life - hardly a pleasant trait.

So this is the post you be talking about  .... I'd hate for you to be misleading again.

"

...Tax, not something to ignore in the States, when nothing else nailed Al Capone that was what eventually sent him to the Rock."

But, given the IRS say they are not actually auditing The President's taxes, then surely that must mean a presumption of the taxes being in a fairly regular state ie; no worse or better than any other law abiding citizen of what ever side of the political fence. I mean, isn't that a reasonable assumption to make. I mean since you seem to love to assume what is going to bring the President down 😛 ... also, there is apparently ( to my knowledge ) no law that says the President is required to show his tax papers . There never was a law ... It was just something that started happening around the mid seventies in US politics yes ?

Granted one could assume the President is hiding stuff cos he doesn't want to play show and tell, but that's part of what I find interesting about this President. His arrogance strength in the face of those trying to bring him undone is a good thing isn't  it ?

I mean, got to have a leader with balls yes ?

Also, this President is not the only one to sweep his house clean, nor will he be the last. To not see that as fairly normal behaviour is a bit strange.

I am curious to see how much now it will be the President's fault that Assange is in trouble now. Sure sure we all saw and were amused ( imo ) by Trump's comments  pre his being elected POTUS ... I mean wikileaks was not a favour to Hilary and the DNC 🙂

... just sayin' "

Make sure you read it properly Kimmo . It's a pretty fucking objective look at that particular situ. It seems like just because it does not outright  condemn, in your eyes,  it is a defence ?

well now, there is a saying ..." it takes one to know one "

so you not have twinair on ignore any more. good. it's pointless in a place like this to put people on ignore

Twinny’s just surprised you didn’t personally fly Marine One there yourself to a standing ovation and red carpet treatment from the chiefs of the five military service branches.

On a serious note, the “not just me” defence for conspiracy theories has rather unpleasant associations. Referring to Guardianista and Pravda on the Thames is not exactly reassuring.

I totally agree.

But do a quick google ask G if Trump is lying - you will bsee how broad is the level that is questioning just how believable Trump is.

I have no idea whatsoever if he is or not but his track record is far from stellar in that regard.

Oh btw, i could not fly Marine One in a fit, I never took to helicopters, just plain do not like them 🙂

The promise of the internet was that it would make ignorance go away by providing information hitherto unavailable, to the masses.

It hasn’t worked out well. Men are now women, socialism solves economic problems and vaccines cause autism. And people who still oppose this absolute crap are now racist cis-supremacist neo-fascists.

Doing a quick google for confirmation bias of a conspiracy will get you exactly what you ask for.

It’s 2y later and everyone STILL reckons Trump called the Charlottesville Nazis “nice people” because of media exactly like Guardianista and Pravda on the Thames. Of course, FNN is not much better on the other side - they make it seem like he farts rainbows when he leaves Kurds to die at the hands of the forces of The Putin of Middle Earth.

Nothing is ever perfect, the upside is that information is available faster, but you still have to decide what is truth and what is not.

al-Baghdadi has been claimed dead rather a lot of times before, never as almost gleefully but any skeptic would have to query the timing and circumstance here especially when Trump has been claiming ISIS defeated for a year or so.

In such circumstances it is reasonable to query, especially when the report is coming from the mouth of a liar like Trump.

We'll see.

Why?

What you seem to miss is that most all of my recollections date back to the 70s. I did continue to provide some opinion on data coming out of the Pentagon well into the 80s and early nineties but I only was physically there for a couple of brief stints, one in the late seventies and again in the early eighties.

It is not at all unusual for people to be asked for input assuming they have sufficient clearance, you do not need to be physically there and it became progressively easier as the Internet expanded. Most but not all of what input I had was more to do with matters that are not particularly time critical, opinion pieces if you will.

It has been 20 years and more since that sort of request was anything but regular, put simply I'm no longer current so I don't get asked,

The last big up-tick was during the first Gulf War.

As I keep saying it was, all of it, a long time ago, also a long time ago that I talked of it here and at DW.

I really am getting tired of this minute dissection of my life, particularly my life from decades ago.

Cheers
