ergo I'm not a troll, I just tend to disagree rather strongly with your view of the world.

If it were that I'd not bother at all. but everytime I hit a nerve with you you call me names ... lol  ... it's not really very clever of you  :P~~

You don't hit nerves, you just annoy me with  your lack of understanding of the way it really is.

Which is not the way Leo sees it either although he does have points, he can tend to forget it can very easily retrograde or go out of control .

We are in the end playing with one-way weapons, there is no going back from a nuclear spasm - not for centuries, if ever.

Leo thinks it will not happen because the lead players have enough sense to understand it means their own suicide.

I'm not willing to take that gamble, or the side-bet of it spinning out of control of those who think they are in control.

It has been a lot of decades since :Fail-Safe" but the protocols have not really improved, they were already about as protective as possible, and they failed.

Take a look at the nuclear clock:

https://thebulletin.org/doomsday-clock/

Then tell me there is no reason not to be sanguine.

The Bureau has identified two threats to our total demise, one is nuclear warfare, been there for decades, the other is climate change.

That idiot you "trumpet" about does not believe in the latter, or says he doesn't today.

He's a Mad Hatter at the Tea Party at the End of our Universe if we do not shut him down and take radical action to reverse the direction we are headed in.

He s not going to do that, it is a signal difference between him and every one of the Dem candidates that I have bothered to look at.

China is indeed key, they are by far the world's biggest polluter but you won't get them to reduce it with a trade war.

I do rather think their leader is playing a numbers game, there are a lot more Chinese than the rest of us, a big die back of the human race and China emerges triumphant.

Is he that insane?

I have no idea, but I'm not inclined to bet that he is not.

The same goes for Trump, it is not worth the risk on this one way street.

We sure are not in Kansas anymore...

We are closer than people want to believe to the end of days if we do not take control away from the lunatics.

Laugh all you like, climate change is real, it has been breaking records in Europe, melting Greenland, giving Australia its coldest winter in decades, but wait for summer, it is going to be fierce.

Cheers

I do not really accept that.

Excellent. That means something different is happening.

America was attacked on 9/11, by terrorism.

Yes. And most wars in the world today are one Africa between subnational groups. The third most deadly conflict in 2016 was the narco-war in Mexico; and Iran fights everyone by proxy.

What good does any of these IRBMs or nuclear weapons do in these wars?

Conventional wars are largely over.

And almost every time conventional tactics are used against subnational groups, the subnationals win. America decimated the VC in the Tet Offensive, but lost the war because the VC manipulated the American press in acting against America. Literally, the NYT’s main anonymous source turned out to be a VC General.

Nukes are loose in the world, terrorists are loose in the world, some terrorists are state sponsored.

That worries me too. And that’s why Obama was such a moron by paving Iran’s path to the bomb.

There’s two ways to deal with that. Conventional warfare which increases nationalism and may turn the population to the Mullahs’ cause, or economic warfare.

The benefit of the latter is that the IRGC is the largest business in Iran. Squeeze Iran, squeeze them. As Iran keeps spending money on foreign terrorist groups, ordinary Iranians start questioning (already do) why their hard earned is going to Syria, Hamas and Hezbollah.

Protests form (already have) with cries of “Death to the Dictator” (already happening).

Pretty soon the IRGC has to make a choice. The Mullahs or their pockets and easy lives?

The only thing Trump could do better than he’s doing now is to add internal strife. Start arming the Arab Khuzestanis and Kurdish nationalists in Iran. Nothing fancy, but enough to give the Iranians further headaches with plausible deniability.

Much of terror does originate in Pakistan, is Trump doing anything to rein them in as they teeter toward another war with India ?

Well he canned their aid until they start playing ball.

I'm not suggesting the Democrats currently have a paln either, but they are at least in the main sensible adults

Out of the 20 there’s maybe two sensible adults. All the rest are trying to disappear up their own assholes with open borders and free *everything* for illegals.

Not one of them plans to do anything different to Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama. Same old shit.

Almost all want to re-enter the Iran deal like the weak scumbags that they are.

I'm glad you think so, I'd prefer someone who knows what he is doing and can admit his mistakes.

Well, that used to be true, but since the Navy once again has a strong presence here I'd not count on it.

To be serious, if nuclear winter is a reality and I do believe that given sufficient mega-tonnage it is, it won't much matter where you live.

It becomes a macabre race between radiation or freezing to death.

Again more seriously, I do regard the possibility of an all out war as very much an outside chance, it is just given the idiots in general currently running things it is difficult to completely rule it out.

Well it’s either that or socialism if you listen to the Democrats.

Not sure which one is deadlier.

In a perfect world where everyone played by the rules, sure.

You've made it pretty clear you think everyone is stupid compared to you tho', so I'm not sure what that has to do with much at this point.

I do not have to be very intelligent to be smarter than the current President.

I'm opinionated, but it does come from a wealth of knowledge that I'm happy to share,  what were you bringing to the party, apart from questions ?  🙂

He underspent Hillary, outplayed the Democrats on the working classes, weaponised the media to give him the most airtime out of any candidates for free... and then made the media the enemy of the American people.

55% of Democrats have little or no confidence in the mainstream press, and 90% of Republicans feel the same.

The press is more distrusted to a “no confidence” level than the military, universities, law enforcement, the Supreme Court, the Exec. Branch and even Congress.

In essence every time you believe some BS story on “talking heads news network” about how deranged Trump is, about 73% of Americans simply don’t believe it.

Now the MSM could be 100% right about Trump. Or they might be full of shit about Trump.

But it takes more than cunning to beat the most connected candidate for Presidency ever, to beat a sure-bet of Jeb Bush in the primaries, win with the press’s free air-time and then demonise the press into being effectively distrusted and disbelieved by a majority of Americans. It takes a street-smart thuggish intelligence.

One you do not have. One that can actually be effective against the snakes.

Trump has a way of always being in the news, but when you can watch him on live TV opening his mouth to change feet it is not a case of the media painting him as an idiot, he does it himself.

In the end the truth does out, I've never heard a man waffle on so much about things he really has no clue on so much in my life. Endlessly he is caught in lies and exposed as stupid. So, it is up to individuals to decide what to believe, I think the media long ago stopped putting any spin on Trump reports, he does it all himself.

You know what they say about statistics Leo, you seem to keep falling back on them a lot lately.

He has not won yet.

It says at the moment of the Democrats that they are running in panicked circles and making like  teapots   🙂

What they should be doing is circling the wagons.

(About there I'm running short of metaphors 🙂 )

Good lord TMFP ! I'm not apologising for the presence and being of Trump. I did not birth him or school him or even vote for him :P

But I do so applaud his win in wading through the nasty self entitled scum of pollies on all sides that thought the game of presidency was a closed business. He seems  to be having a real go at doing as he said he would, whether one likes his promises or not.

It's a pity that after his next four years are up the business of American politics will have done their best to shore up the weak spots so's another non-pollie will not make it in ... I guess that's a good thing as it means Bezo will find it just about impossible to follow on from Trump ;)

At least he catches it.

Obama and Bush couldn’t catch a parked car.

All Trump has to do to win re-election is run an ad:

1. Smirking Obama telling Romney it ain’t the Cold War anymore and that Russia is no threat to the US. Fade out with a comment “For 4 years the Democrats enabled Russian collusion, then a further 4 and millions of dollars trying to shift blame and failing. With a record like that how do you think they’ll do on healthcare?”. Maybe include that hot mic moment when Obama tells Medvedev that he would have “more flexibility” to bend over to Russian concerns after the elections. Fade out with a comment “speaking of collusion”

2. Clip of Obama calling ISIS a junior varsity team just months to a year before they took over Iraq and most of Syria. Fade out with comment from Obama re poor Americans “sticking to their guns and religion”.

If Biden is the nominee, clips of him voting for every war in his career. Fade out with comment “Democrats talk the talk but President Trump is the first President in 40 years not to sacrifice American lives by starting a new war”

The fundamental problem the Democrats have is that Trump is a better Democrat than they are. They’ve had to go so far to the left specifically because he took their bread and butter blue collars in key swing states. The economy’s doing well, there are real wage increases for the first time in a generation. No new wars. Manufacturing is making a slow recovery.

Most people vote on the basis of the candidate that convinces them that tomorrow will be ok.

I really do not think so Leo, I can't stand Putin but thee is no doubt that he is smart.

If the buck stops at the top the Americans did catch, and Kill Bin Laden on Obama's watch.

...and all the Dems would have to do would be run ads of Trump Gaffes... they'd have to edit down the endless hours though...

He hasn't created a war - yet, but he is sailing (literally) very close to the wind in the Straits of Hormuz and he has essentially stood by and watched Venezuela get raped by Russia.

He hasn't really stopped any wars either - his claims of pulling out of Syria tuned out to be hollow, troops are still bogged down in Iraq and in Afghanistan. That last is particularly stupid and I'm the first to admit it was foolish to go into Afghanistan in the first place, no one ever wins a war there, it was time to leave before they even went in. Iraq is also pretty much a lost cause, the longer they stay the more animosity they generate.Technically it is not regarded as a war any more, but make no mistake, it is.

I can't say that I see any particular recovery in manufacturing, Jobs was right when he said it had gone to Asia get over it.

Most importantly he keeps as far away as he possibly can from the Assault weapons debate. Survivors of the El Paso massacre refused to meet him so what did he do ? Took a photo op with the sole survivor of a family that gave up their lives to have their infant survive.

He's despicable, only word for it.

Cheers
